What the heck is he cleaning body parts for disposal. We use to use a little toilet bowl cleanser in radiators at the used car lot I worked at in high school but 100% lie not in my garage. :|

Dave, you need to stick with diesel for washing parts. As long as there is white lightning

i wonder what could be used safely instead of the lye, seems like a godd idea other than that or maybe rig up some kind of areation/bubbler might be safer with regular parts washer solvent

I wouldn't stress the lye too much. Been used forever in soap. Ever eat a soft pretzel? Good chance it took a lye bath to help it brown in the oven. Here is a recipe for lye in parts washing solution:

http://www.ehow.com/how_7789205_make-pa ... r-lye.html

In it's concentrated form it is to be respected but diluted and used correctly it isn't a whole lot different than most chemicals.

Sticking with diesel fuel or simple green. I have been burned working in a chemical plant. No thanks to the caustic soda.

I wonder how that would work with the normal cleaners . Like simple green , mineral sprints , etc .. Hate for the heat to catch it on fire or what not. I'm sure it can handle it.
