I understand the desire to save cash but there are some benefits to buying from a brick and mortar shop like our sponsors for some of the big ticket items. Customer service is always better when you are standing on the other side of the counter. You also build a relationship with someone that can help you with your project. Yes you will pay a little more but it is well worth it.

I have been told that both Southern Buggies and Drews (Brian Drew) are great to deal with. I have not done business with either yet but I am looking forward to a new project so that I can support our sponsors.

I have dealt with Chuck Jones and he is great and very knowledgable. I am looking forward to my all Weddle 091.

This is just my opinion. I had the pleasure of dealing with Dave Clark of Sundance Bug and Buggy in Plant City for over 17 years. Dave passed away a few years ago, most of what I know about VW's I learned while sitting at his counter shooting the breeze.

Support our sponsors if you can, they support us. :D :D :D

I agree on supporting the ones that support us.
That is why I will not buy anything from appletree no longer !
They really gave me and alot of people a good poking !
Thought the owner was a real stand up guy and would not even give a return phone call back .....

If you really, really need to buy a VW block. This would be the first place I would go. This same fellow owns Avery Aircooled and it would be harder to find someone better to deal with. They also make the 930 drive flanges and stub axles.

I like the block that mad mike suggest. One old Vw guy told me the only way a Vw block will hold up stroked is when it is through bolted, I'm sure some will disagree. That's the first one I've seen. I don't think super cases are that way.

x2, i like it.. never seen a case through bolted either, but i can see the advantage. didnt see a $$ amount for the case but looks like a good option come rebuild time. oh yea, made in the USA :D

Just talked to the guy for about an hour. The block is $1450 but I think it's worth it. Not sure ill ever talk myself into spending a lot of money on a motor again but if I did this might be the block I would use.

When and if you have a problem with the part you bought the guy is standing across the counter not across the country. Plus any reputable shop will check the new block at least visually before you receive the part.

So support our sponsors they continue to support Woodsbuggy

im a culprit ive bought WAY to much stuff from appletree but its hard not to with cheap prices and free shipping. there are a few bug shops around columbus but nothing aftermarket. drews is about the closest place to me and thats an hour away. an hour each way adds up to alot of gas money and once i get there the stuff costs more anyways. only way to upset this is to get MOST of the people to buy local causing prices to go down and locations to go up. until then sorry guys it just doesnt make since for me to buy local.

Hey I got a great used rental car to sell it cheap. You get what you pay for. The China stuff is cheap but ti doesn't keep any money around here. Sorry you don't have a good shop close, most brick and mortar stores will ship as well. You can always ask if they can match the price you might just be surprised.

I buy stuff from Moore Parts in California, and I have also bought from Kartek and McKensies but those guys sell a lot of USA made parts as well.

i have bought everything i can from a bug shop here in columbus (autowerks) but he doesnt mainline aftermarket parts, he would just order these parts online then sell them to me. ive only been able to buy a carb 34 pict (chinese) and few other small things. his machining consists of line boring and some head work. he has in house rebuilt 1600 long blocks for $1695 which im seriously considering.

I've bought from them. I believe they are located in Lancaster which is like an hour drive from me. I ordered a ball joint and 7/8 steering shaft. It took over a week to get here.

The price was right though.
