I come across a propane tank i can get for free its a 33 pound steel forklift tank holds 7.87 gallons should work good all i gotta do is trim the fat and add a filler neck and fitting on the bottom. it already has a liquid level gauge which should work for fuel. I was just wandering if anyone has ever done this and any tips or warnings?

Should work fine one thing I would ck into is if it has a chemical liner in it which might have a reaction when fuel meets it .... I have heard beer kegs have a coating in them also but have heard of people running them .
Hope it works out for ya !

If that is a good tank, you should be able to get at least $85 for it on ebay.

if your talking about the propane tank I dont think its worth as much because its steel and some companys cant use it or something like that' atleast thats why Im getting free because 7-up distribution is not allowed to use them in there forklifts (safety standards or insurance or something) the guy says he usually has to pay to get rid of them.

I made a hydraulic tank for my log splitter from a standard grill propane tank. I don't see why there would be any problems. Just make sure you purge all propane fumes out of the tank before you go to cutting & welding on it!!!
