What do you guys recomend to clean tube before welding? I remember the thread we had stating do not use brake cleaner, but not what to use.

Acetone gets the oil off and evaporates immediately.

i would say acetone. I use brake cleaner but make sure that it does not have any tetrachloroethylene in it. That is the chemical that creates the harmfull chlorine gas that was mentioned in that post. Most of the NON-flammable brake cleaners have tetrachloroethylene. But if you want to be safer.... I would say acetone.

I just sand off the area to be welded by hand with some 120 grit. Thats for MIG or TIG. Works fine for me

I just wipe it off and weld. The only time I have a problem is when building a frame or any bigger project that I tack up and it may sit for a week or so before I weld it out, all the cutting oil runs out the bottom right where I need to weld. Then I blow it off real good with air comp and wipe it down.
