I bought these a couple of years ago when i was thinking about building my buggy. Now its time use them. I was wondering if these will be strong enough. As you can see they are a 2 piece design. 1/2" thick, each piece. The piece that bolts onto the 4 lug piece uses six 9.6mm SCREWS. I don't know what grade. They were made by a company that makes custom adapters. The adapters are for a 5 on 5 1/2 pattern. Ford, CJ and Dodge....I think   . Lets hear some opinions.

The only area of concern would be the six screws. But very cool looking setup.

I have been studying this design and calculated the area of steel used by the factory 4 lugs verses the area of the six screws. If my calculations are correct the six screws have more area than the 4 lugs do. If this is correct, this makes the screws a little stronger than the studs given that metal used is the proper grade. Can anybody confirm my theory?

Even thought there is more thread surface the smaller diameter screws do not have the holding strength as the larger diameter studs. Personally I would put the screws in and weld the plates together.

Thanks Ody. That's a good idea. Maybe tack welds so if I need to remove them on the trail I can use a hacksaw.
