Dub asked .....On a CD when you build the rear arms we use a brg housing from a vanagon. The problem with this is it's a big load for a stock bus axle because it's carring the load of the buggy plus the torx of turning the tires 44 .A floater is like on a 4x4 truck you know you can take the axle out of the front and the tire still be on the truck .See that way the load is on the brgs not the axle. Mr Burns has MAD skills so he built him a set for all his CD. When I first built my CD I went threw axles all the time. But then I stopped welding the sprockets on I started bolting them on. I put the axle in my mill and re drilled the 8mm holes to 3/8 clocked it and drilled 6 more holes go from 6 to 12 ,,,8mm or 5/16 to 3/8 fine thread never broke another.

Drug my junk all the way to Cromer one time unloaded, the first hill I hit, broke off the back tire at the very top  That bolted 42 hub and all went all the way to the bottom took us all day to get it back up that hill     Not to mention Mr Burns dog Rowdy helped us only problem was he was on the up hill side....I feel like we rolled a 42 tire and a dog up that hill

Dammit!! sounds like some of my luck first year or two of buggies. Gotta have a lot of heart to stay in the sport when you first get in and r working all the bugs out of your machine.
How many guys you seen stuff like that happen to on their first couple trips out , then you never see them in the woods again?? I've seen dozens.

I was on a 4x4wheeler, Suzuki even, lol. And then had a buggy 6 days after seeing my first buggy in the woods. I know exactly how you feel.

Rock I guess I have not worked on enough 4x4 axles to picture the setup. I do understand the axle comming out through the hub. Just not how you are doing the bearing assembly I guess. Got any pics we can see?
