hi all, i been lurking on here for a little while just got my buggy going about a week ago. i picked it up last fall as a trade for doing some body work and priming an old 69ish mustang. i believe is just a DP 1600, 3 rib trans. i put some 3x3's on it,type 2 cv's, cut and widened the axles ( machined a 3/8" wall tubing to press fit over the cut axles and welded on a lathe to keep 'em tru ) we'll see how long they last.. widened the front beam 8", cleaned up a bunch of nasty bubblegum welds & unnessary brackets & spent the last couple months putting a turbo on it, runs about 5lbs of boost, for now.

Welcome. Nice lookin buggy. Aftermarket axles are not very expensive, they are torsional so they give a little to relieve some transaxle/cv stress and you can get them in any length. So if those fail or you just to feel more comfortable buy some aftermarkets.

thanks. i'd like to come to some of the events, we have a 4x4 off road park near here ( smorr.com ) i'd like to take it there soon. and as far as the axles i'll probably end up buying a set, but alot of the time i like to build something the first time just to see if i can and see how long it'll last.
