I'm thinking about going mid engine this winter and was considering this tranny , mendeola, or hv2 because of the heavier gears but don't like the 6 inches longer

I guess I am down to three choices.
1. Build a Weddle 094
2. Buy an Albins
3. Cut the back of the car off and start over.

The hv's wont work because I have about and inch clearance all the way around the engine.

Sooooooooo,
Terminated transmission number 4 over the forth of July. This was a stock 094 that I got from Wright Transmission. This one was fully stock and was supposed to last just long enough for my Weddle built transmission to come in. Unfortunately I was on a gravel road pitching it a little sideways in third gear and gave it a little too much gas coming out of the corner and then...pow...crunch...grind...and "shit, there goes the transmission" The last I posted I said I had three options and I chose number 1. Sean over at Weddle was extremely helpful and got me set up with an "ultimate transmission" I sent him the two transmissions I had previously broke and he salvaged what he could. This thing is fully built and bad ass. I also had him build up a second decent back up transmission to keep around for an emergency. Why would I do that you ask??? Well I leave for Utah and Colorado this coming Friday and it takes a lot of time and energy to head out west for a few weeks to run the desert and mountains.
I also went a different route on the clutch set up. I got rid of the 200mm Kennedy 6 puck and went with a 228 stage 2 with a spring loaded fiber rated for 350 hp and a new 228 Kennedy flywheel.

Whomever said "that back in the day we sunk all our money into an engine and nothing into a transmission and now it is just the opposite, very little into an engine and everything into the transmission" was spot on

Looks good Bryan. I dealt with Sean as well on my HV1. Very honest and helpful in every way.

The fiber clutch works well just DON'T get it hot. If it gets hot once it never grabs the same again. The puck clutch is a little more forgiving on that aspect.

You will like that 3.75 1st if you didn't have one before. It is an animal when you need it and you never have to push the clutch in through the tight slow trails.

Have fun out west...

I was burning up one 6 puck clutch a year. I paid a little more attention to the clutch during this past trip North and I think I had figured out what was going on. We had 10 buggies running and it seemed like it was an endless amount of stopping and waiting at the corners. When talking to Montee at Kennedy he said that the constant starts and stops is extremely hard on them and will cause them to heat up way too fast and eventually fail. He said the fiber is better suited to the type of trails we run. When I pulled the engine last summer the clutch, flywheel and 6 puck were blue from the heat and the clutch disk was falling apart. It still had plenty of thickness, it was just crumbling apart. I am a little concerned about heating up the fiber but I hope the disk springs help with engagement and heat issue. It cant be worse than what I have been running....or could it? Plus I hate how the 6 puck sounds when it engages.
On a side note, I ran the 6 puck with a stage 2 and stage 3. I was even considering a stage 4!
