| Post subject: | First Buggy Build |
After many years of wanting to get into buggies, I finally found one I like. Yes, it needs a lot of work but it is January so I should have it done by early summer. There are four of us with buggies here in Jackson/Wellston Ohio. I been lurking on this forum for a while and figured I might as well join and learn all that I can since I know nothing about VW's. Some things I am planning is more bracing, new front bumper, the tubes going to the roof will be replaced with straight tubing and lots more mods.

Welcome to the world of cost overruns & frustration. LOL. That chassis has a few Chenoweth specific styling cues from the 80's. Good lines to it. Look forward to seeing it progress. |

I am going to redo the roof bars but not exactly how yet. I do know that the roofing will be braced good once I am done. I am not sure what kind of frame it is other than it is titled as a 1983 custom built. I believe Wellsville is about 4 hours away from me but I would like to go there this summer. |

![]() This is a shot of an 84 Chenoweth raised roof I had. I have seen a dozen from the early 80's & they are all similar here. It looks like you have a flat roof version. Mine still had the dash tag but most are long gone. |

Thanks for all the replies. I have most of it striped now and am going to start replacing and adding more bars when it warms up a bit. My buddy just bought a ton of vw parts so parts are available now. He is redoing his buggy also and next winter he wants us to build stroker motors for both of them. The only part I hate about the whole buggy deal is redoing a previous owners stuff that should have been done in the first place. |

After working on the buggy for 4 months, it is finally starting to take shape.I had to get a different motor and many parts. I still have to finish welding, adding more bracing in the main cage, and install harnesses and all that junk. Anyways, just thought I would post a few pics and let everyone know I am still involved and yes I do visit this site many times a day. I am hoping to get to come to Wellsville later this summer. ![]() ![]() ![]()
