From the photos page, I have noticed several buggys with body panels up front. Do you guys order these from somewhere, or just find some thin gauge sheet and make it yourselves? Thanks. |

yea khaney its lite weight aluminum just about any color. it helped me last weekend chad ran over a branch and it fliped up and came right at me but the body kept it off of me thank god put a dent in it. nothing a hammer wont fix lol |

 I made panels from cardboard and then had a local shop cut some sheetmetal in simalar shapes. I then took them home and tweeked them as needed. I welded tabs to tubinig and installed 5/16 c-nuts to them. I secure the hood using thumbscrews. I,m not sure of the sheetmetal thickness but i can stand on my hood.

All the panels are dzused on, not much need to remove the hood except to clean. The aluminum is .065, light and strong, you could stand on mine as well. Look through this, might help http://s167.photobucket.com/albums/u158/MadMike001/ |

I also used .065" thick Aluminum. Its strong, liteweight and no need for paint. As others have stated cardboard templates were made and then an electric hand held shear was used to cut them. Then they were clamped on the frame and all contours and edges were rolled down with a soft blow mallet. Most panels are held on with 1/4 turns. Here is the link to pics showing variuos shots of templats etc. The 1/4 turns are a must in my opinon. Im also goin to be doin this real soon. I use sheet metal like we use on all out dirt track cars around here. All you need is a metal brake and time.I can get this stuff in allmost any color for about 80 asheet 4x8 sheets of it. Good job on the buggy above looks real good.0 |
