Racebugg, awesom build, makes my creative juces flow. I too was looking over your steering ram mount and I have concerns. I would hate like hell to see you wad this thing of beauty up because of a steering failure. Might I offer a solution?
There is nothing that says you need to mount the cylinder from the end as in the typical installation. My thought is to fab up a clamp type mount that would come up from the lower center tube and would clamp the cylinder into place using the cylinder tube ends as lateral stops. There should be no movement in the ram cylinder itself just the cylinder rod in and out.
Somthing like this, excuise my child-like art, I think you'll see what I'm refering to. Things I think I think.

I like that idea! but it won't work. the rack is too closeon the top side, and the tierods are too close on the front side, so the only way to get a clamp on it would be to use a "pinch" bracket (only one side of the of the clamp would open) wich would lead to other problems, like taking it out. But I love that idea. We did add another brace to it, and I don't think I mentioned it before, but that is 3/4" .120 wall tubing. So it is almost solid. I'll get a pic of the dimple dies for ya, willie!

They are Pro-am spindles. Since I got them, I have found all sorts of places selling similar ones. They are combo spindles. We had a choice of combo, king kong, or 2" hallow. I figured with a car this light, combo would be plenty strong.

Kinda hard to extrapulate clearences in photos, I tried. I'm a maintanance machinist so I'm always re-engineering things to make them better, stronger or faster.

Looking good Nick. Hopefully that will be the only time it ends up on its side lol I see old Roscoe in there a time or two. New secret cam showed up today so as soon as the motor is back together we should be good to go for a race or two.

Thanks wyoming, I hear that you might be making the big jump to coil-over rear? New secret cam? What you don't like replacing engle cams? You can kinda see the added brace on the ram mount.. I want to add internal stops in the ram also

I got them at a swap meet. They cost around 100-150 a piece new.

Not too much progress.... mocked up trans too figure out axle legnth, and bent up tubes for trans and motor mount.

ended up with a 28" axle

kind of a tricky notch here in the middle of a bend

Its been quiet, and i've been busy. We mounted the fuel cell, and have the brackets made for the engine and trans, we are just waiting for the axles to show up to finish that up.
