Busy day, limit straps on front installed, straps are about 1" to long don't have much adjustment, I'll just have to get shorter ones but for now I'm going to use the ones I have. Air filter housing mounted, fuel regulator, skid plate on bumper, dbw pedal, coolant over flow tank, tig welded a box for computer & relays & fuses. Going to live behind drivers seat. I have a few odds & ends to do tomorrow and take everything apart clean frame to get it painted this week.

I got some color on the buggy last weekend. Now I'm going back together. Got about 90% of the wiring complete, pedals mounted, steering brakes mounted, valve for shutting front brakes off or on. Started making brake lines. Try to have it running next weekend. First trip out I'm hoping 4th July weekend.

I'm almost ready to ride took it for a ride had some issues but I'm not getting into that yet. My brake lines are finished copper nickel is very nice to work with, stainless flex lines. Fuel lines are AN fittings are AN. I had to use S.A.E 45 brass barbed fittings with 100 psi fuel injection hose cause the fuel pump is barbed. Wiring is done everything has a fuse or breaker. I have a 100 micron prefilter. Made a battery tray with a hold down. Adjusted nitrogen in the shocks. I have a few little things to do but I'll be ready for camp this weekend.

I'm ready to take the buggy for its first trip. Load it up on the trailer in the morning. I put some plastic on the side's and made a hood, got some new front tires, finished all the little things tonight. Hopefully I get my fuel pump from alpha fab before noon so I can get on the road. We'll see how it goes I'll update next week.

MickeyMouse wrote: Nice looking buggy. What kind of tires and size are those on the rear? American farmer 12.5x15 they measure 34.5 with the recommended air pressure. With 10psi they are like 33.5 they are 4ply very soft, the only thing is that the bars are 45 degree. They do ok, thanks.

The buggy did pretty good other than some problems with the engine it has no low end. I'm working with alphafab on getting it fixed. They have been very helpful. Just a little hard to get a hold of sometimes. But when that engine comes alive it would fly up those West Viginia hills faster than any hopped up stroker vw that I've had. MadMikes suspension is flawless! The suspension soaked up everything i went over,cross ditches felt like nothing, cleared a well road about half way up this rightaway when i landed it felt amazing. Didn't bottom out or anything. I have some issues with my 930 cvs making noise I'll have to attend to. But overall, Not to bad for the first trip out. |

Alpha fab got me fixed up, The buggy runs to good now took it to WV last weekend first hillclimb I hit made it to the top no problems, second time didn't make it to the first cross ditch "crunch" went my spider gears, The ecotec has to much power for the stock six rib. I should have known better, but I was trying to save a little cash. hopefully i can get her fixed for labor day weekend. |
