Well it only took 2 years of dancing around the idea but I finally pulled the trigger. Just got a nice pallet load of stuff in today from Alpha. I was pretty nervous when I sold the 2387 a couple weeks ago but it is gone and I am committed now. With less and less time to tinker (one of the reasons for the switch) I needed something as close to bolt on and go as I could so I went with the stage 4 kit. Looking forward to pump gas (but there will always be something to say about the smell of racefuel). Already have the buggy prepped and ready. Going to try and get some progress this week. Will post some pics soon. I have looked and looked on here at all the tips and tricks for this swap, but if there is anything that stands out to you all don't hesitate to throw it up here. Just want to say thanks to the other guys that have made this switch and posted about it... It sure made my decision easier. Especially Darrell... I have bugged him several times about this and even though I have never even met him, he has been nothing but helpful and answered all my questions. I have my Cherokee radiator, fuel regulator, and fuel lines all ready to go. Is there anything else specific you all recommend?

You know what they say,
"Once you go dark you never go back"
I do like mine. I have been looking at AFI turbo for a little more hp thou. (its on my bucket list)
If you need a fan shroud for the jeep rad, I have a extra one.

I'm sitting here with a 2.2 n/a wondering what in gods name a stage 4 from alpha must be like. The few times I've actually been able to test mine this winter and I can't hook for crap. Pretty decent power out of just a stock 2.2 block.

Guaranteed to have fun with that setup, if any questions come up, be sure to hit us up. I'm sure it's something one of us has ran into.

Blackout, I have a 2.2 na also.
When I 1st put it in I was thinking it was one very fast buggy (still think so).
I drive mine to work a lot. Not many things will keep up with it from light to light.
But like all guys, you get used to the hp and want more.

Haha yeah I'm already planning my turbo route. My DD is a trailblazer ss with about 450hp. So I was really surprised to see what this little motor could do. I'm really thinking that if I go to a 2.4 turbo that'd I'd like to get a 4 seater, I can't forsee a 400hp 2 seater being much fun with the front wheels in the air the whole time. It'll be really interesting once I weight mine to see what I'm at.

I don't have the $$$$ for the parts to support 400 hp.
I do think that 250ish will be good for my trans/cv's if I don't try to do wheeles.
The turbo on it will be nice for them pesky V8's.
I'm not into top end speed, I just like to get to about 70 mph quickly and cruse.

Where did you get the fan shroud?

Honestly 400hp off the 2.4 with a turbo doesn't seem like a huge budget. Trans on the other hand idk. Apparently Leduc here in Michigan is the guy to talk to for trans work and does good work for honest prices. I take absolutely nothing from alphafab on their amazing work and tuning, and which I'm sure they'll agree you can source parts yourself for cheaper, it's just the fact they package it all together and do the hard work for most. As well as the fact most if not all of the fittings and little things are made within Michigan. I would love to see what a turbo setup with roughly 15psi feels like. I love me some horsepower.

I made it.
I work in a fab/stamping shop.
Usually when I'm making parts for me I make more than one so I end up with at least 1 good one.
The extra one has not had the corners or brackets welded.
I boxed it up for a guy a while back and he changed his mind so I put it in storage.
If you cant weld alum. you drill some holes and bolt or rivet the mounting brackets on it.

Go Big, sorry about the hijack.
I think you will be very happy with the ecotec.

Haha, well supposedly the 6ribs are rated to handle 300hp right? I find that a laughing matter, especially if they haven't been gone through in 30-40 years. Either way, I like the moto "go big or go home" granted they aren't a 1000hp lsx motor, but heck 350-400hp with half the weight seems pretty good to me.

Dammat bus transmission. Go Ecotech AND it's fwd trans longways . Passat is still screaming thru the woods like a cut Camanche. I seen an add in the paper the other day. It read: 1986 Cherokee Chief, needs ingine. :P

Finally got a chance to work on the buggy. Got my power steering mounted, my new pedal in place, and got the new motor bolted on. I set the motor on the scale before I stuck it on. If you can't read it in the pic it was saying 270 pounds.

I am assuming your adding additional bracing to your EPS mounting? Two bolts like that is not going to work well as it will twist.

If that thing twists I'll have bigger problems lol. The picture hides some bracing I guess. There is no way that thing is moving.

What are you guys running for a muffler/spark arrestor? I have the Alpha fab header and not a lot of room to play with. Thanks
