All right PEEPS,
Here is my first problem, The fuel psi when the engine is just started is around 60-80 psi, it does come down to what you see in the video but cycles.
I hear the pump cycle with the rise and fall of the fuelut it acts like its kicking in and out of gear ( sorry no other analogy).
After 5-10 minutes the sweep of the fuel PSI GAUGE gets lower and lower till the engine just stops, and at that point it takes 5 min or so for the fuel pump to turn back on..

I thought at first it was the fuel filter, till I changed that to a higher flow, I have adjusted the regulator in and out to no affect.
The pump is an EBAY E-2000.

Thoughts?

thanks for your input...

Thanks for the call Jim! Bypass the regulator. If you're not running a return line it could be causing a vaccuum. Report back and let me know.

Ok,
Thanks for the quick call back Sean..
I bypassed the fuel reg, and it did the exact same thing, Lessons learned not to buy cheap Ebay fuel pump (e2000 style)It would cycle worse as it got warm/hot.
Though I did open it up to around 3000 grand and held it for 5 min and it didn't cough at all I opened the fuel take, no vac on the system, equal pump at advance auto is $83. Guess I will run out and get that one tomorrow unless someone has a good/cheap pump, do those two words go together?

This is what I am using and it is the same as what some of the desert racers are using.

Thx Bryan,
Sometimes u have to live and learn on when to cheap out.
Thats a great deal....
Advance Auto has one for the same price, not a bosch though. I will consider that one....

A few things you may try open your gas cap/make sure it is getting air. 2nd I didn't scroll back through but what type of gas tank are u using? Make sure the outlet hole is big enough. Last I used a fuel pump off an 89 ford e350 the inline pump and so far no problems and that fuel pump wasn't to expensive and I can to almost every parts store and they have one in stock. Hope that helps

If it doesn't have a fuel return line the fuel pump may be overheating. With a return system fuel is always moving and helps cool the pump.

Wyoming,
I can tell u didn't scroll back...
Thank yuo.

Huey,
That is also a good thought, I notice at Idle it does get warm/hot and the cycleing gets worse, but even prior to the there is a noticeable cycle.
I am going out today and getting the new pump and if it does the same thing then I will put a return line in, I know these engines are designe as returnless but when ur using a pump that is to big maybe i can see this happening...

Alright, I put in the new better fuel pump and it was way better,,,,,, BUT it did start to get hot, so I put in a return line and it only get warm now, I also set the fuel psi to about 55-60 psi...

Wyoming 1,
I used the same style as before the Ford inline style u speak of e2000. Late 80's early 90's Ford what ever they all pretty much used the same pump system.
Its just not the cheap ebay one, I am sure the cheap one will be a good back up if need be now that i put the return line in...
Now all I gotta do is blead the brakes and clutch and I'm golden...

How about a couple pictures. Did you add a second fuel regulator ? I was thinking it would be nice to set it up with a single regulator that was controlled with the engine vacuum. This would allow the pressure to be low when the engine doesn't need it which in turn would be less stressful to the pump.

I will add a walk around vid soon to detail how I set up better,
BUT... Here's one of the first drives, wheelies in first and second on the dirt not just the street.
I have a couple small adjustments to make to the car, not the motor...
Huey, no need to run a second, I did have to add a return line cuz the pump was to much...

Took the rail out today to do some real riding and not one hickup. That thing has gobs of torque and power. My buddy put a turbo on his air cooled and we were stopping every 5 min so he could adjust stuff...
I will never go air cooled again unless it's in a bug...

Here's a vid from my first drive around the back yard...

Keep posting awesomeness like this! It keeps my motivation levels high. Still so much to do here!!! GJ man. I don't think I'll be pulling wheelies with a 4 seater but I can't wait to get the Ecotec running. Thanks for sharing!

Baja,
Is your ecotech still running problem free? I am going to order the stage 3 kit from alfa. It comes with the alt, belt , and go pedel. Can you post up a parts list just for the engine? With stuff like what fuel pump and rad you used? Did you run a fuel reg and if so what is it? As far as the return line goes how did you run that? Im getting ready to start my swap and would be cool to get a head start on some of the parts. Great build man.

Sorry Ripinitup,
I was sick the whole summer and just got out last weekend for a ride, do u still need any information?

On that note while I was out riding I blew 2nd and3rd gear in my stock six rib.... Now let me tell you guys it was my fault, I tried to quick shift my Scat quick shift and the trans didn't like it.
I was able to obtain another stock 6 rib, I am going to put that one in to finish the season and save my coins to rebuild the broke one stronger.
