If you have a bad miss in your buggy, make her get out.lol I'd pull up air cooled vw coil testing and get a $15 voltmeter at Autokazone. If ya need a new one, yall correct me if I'm wrong, you need a coil without an internal resistor for a vw? Check your switch and battery also with the voltmeter.I keep one on my dashboard permanently. |

If it smooths out at High RPM, it sounds like an intake leak. Spray some starter fluid all over the intake boots and see if the idle goes up or down. If so, you have an air leak. |

My coil was hooked up backwards when I got my buggy. It had a bad miss and was hard to turn over and start. Put a new one on and hooked up right ran great. I would think jumping it backwards would be about the same. I did hook it up right same thing and it would get very hot fast maybe after 2 mins of running. Posted using the WoodsBuggy Mobile App |

Yankin on plug wires can be a culprit. I have a bent welding rod 3/8" L shape at the bottom to get under the bottom of the spark plug end. Lick your fingers and touch each exaust at the head and see which one ain't so hot. Then trade wires around. Take the bad boot off and clip a 1/2" off and re screw if your brand will let you do that. |
