by the way anyone have any idea what frame this is?? took it in on a trade, even the guy i got it from didn't know, ive done research but to no avail any info would be real helpful!!

Looks a lot like Mears Metal Products frame. Is it a 2 or 4 seater? They don't show a 2 seat anymore I don't think. Not sure if it's theirs but the back tubes on their frames always went down to top rail on the engine cage without a bend. Berrien and Beeline always have a short bend on the two tubes from roof to the engine cage.

id say thats definately a 4 seater, and its definately not a beeline, other than that i definately do not know but good luck with the build man! you can make it how you want it

Being that the wife doesnt want a four seater i think shortening the frame is now in order that'll be my first order of bussiness unless i find a nice 2 seater frame that i could buy or trade for, anyone interested? lol

Looks to me like a 4 seater frame built by Dave brown from bug stuff out of brownsville PA.I've built few of these frames and with me being a big guy it makes a nice two seater with some extra storage space.x brace the roof good run it.the wheel base ain't as bad as most four seaters and you will be glad to have it on those long rides when you need to carry extra stuff.Chad

I'd leave it as is and make it a two seater. Just use the space behind the seats for low center of gravity. Fuel tank, battery, tools, cooler or whatever else you want. Put the seats on sliders in case someone really tall buys it so anyone can fit. I'd ad a "b" pillar to it to brace up the roof and build from there.

You could get creative and use the extra space to do a mid-engine Subaru with a stock subaru transaxle. That would be inexpensive way to have a fun ride. Gearing may not be great, depending on tire height, but it would be cheap. You'd have plenty of room for a firewall and radiator.

Do some measuring and see what your wheelbase is going to be. i wouldnt shorten to much if at all.

where should i begin to measure?? id like to find out what to do before i put a torsion in it

measure from the beam clamp to where the torsion goes. then measure your wheelbase on yours than measure from beam clamp to torsion on your then figure the differnce. lol hope that make sense.

whatever it is, put a fuel inj. 2.5 v5 vw jetta 170 hp motor and trans where the back seat would go!Or where a wife or gfriend would go. lol., small and powerful on 87 oct.

hey! get that frame off the picnic table b4 a kid plays on it and gets hurt.It happened to me and fortunatly I only had to replace the nieghbor's fence.The buggy was sitting on the t trailer with 2 playing in it.

I know you didn't mean to get me started but 175 hp beating on 6 rod bearrings and 7 mains all factory balanced is nice.temp staying on 180 regardless of abuse or season.and pump gas.But NOBODY should bolt any v6 to any vw side shift or nose if they climb steep or rugged hills.Bad weight distribution and busted trans stacked up like cord wood.When you apply the torq from a v6, something has to go or break.I hope to have a vid next week of my re designed baby chains that are only 80" from the outside edge of one 40" tsl swamper to the other and only 12" more trailing arm.Think of it as a 1x12 trailing arm I guess.

I'm for sure aircooled . BUT.....water cooled is the best bang for the buck. If you want good reliable cheapass horsepower its the best way to go...lol there I said it.

Man I wish I had half the too. Ur gonna have in that buggy in mine ! lol. watercooled isn't all the much. for that is the only reason I went this route I found my subie 2.2 motor n harness n computer for 100. and just recently found 01 2.5 Subie motor n harness n computer for under 500 bucks. this is only reason I went this route

Man i don't think that Passat and I were that bad. I can't help being a cheap ass. I lost all my money to my ex wife and Obama. You can run a v6 in a buggy you just need to make it long and mean to transfer the weight. Ok 3x5 rear trailing arms help and then the 930 cv and soon to be all Weddle six rib by Chuck Jones. I have actually taken a break since mouse instituted the no harassment policy (joke, joke).

You AC purist are all alike and a like you that way. I took me many years to see the light of WC power and did I mention 28 mpg on the highway
