I bought about a 1\8 of a knock down kit for a local guy. 95% of this buggy I have built. I had to drop the floor down to give me some head room. I built a custom center console. All sheet metal. Wided my petals out so i can drive it easier . I braced it up real good from what i have seen and read on this site . I modified my drum to accept 280zx rosters that I drilled to Match my pattern and I used 88 Nissan sentra calipers. Boxed stock trailing arms heavily reinforced due to the carnage pictures I have seen on here. My junk yard score moter , transmission . 100.00$ Fresh rebuild had a small engine fire. Unknown size but it runs like a raped ape !!! That was a good day !!!! I got almost everything to build me a nice stroker put up. I'm looking for a 3 rib transmission and axles. And a set of dual carbs. A set of front wheels and tires. Like 3 rib tractor tires And some rear terra tires and rims for the rear. If anyone one has anything near me please let me know. Thanks. P.s. do you all see anything I should change or modify before I tear it down and paint it. Besides the engine cage and front bumper.

Just got done reindexing my rear torsion bars. Went up one click on the outer side. Sits up nice. Hope it doesn't bottom out all the time like it did. I tell you what. That was a total pain in the butt tho !!! All original never been touched before. It was the hardest thing I have done so far on this build. I should have bought new bushings for my swing plates. I think that would have made it a cake walk ! The old ones are wore slap out. Think that's what caused me so much head ache

Thank you . And I will as soon as I do something else to it. I want to get you alls opinions on it. Good or bad. Or anything I have not done that I should do as far as safety before I tear it down and paint it all. Haha. My father has gave me a lot of info and i learned alot on this site ! :D so Thank yall for that . I'm thinking lime green thus far. I want it bright !!

Looks good man. The only thing I see that would help out is mount your oil cooler a little higher so it will catch more air. I have the same setup and it works good. I also have some terra tires on steel wheels if hare still looking.

I have been considering that. When I installed the cooler I had a smaller fuel tank. Yes I'm interested in them. You have a pm

Well I'd get you a better air cleaner for sure.at least a two stage or wrap on that one.oil air and gas, keep these three things as clean as possible cause it's the life of a vw.also the windshield lays quite far back maybe put the post brace back and farther up on the windshield.also I'd get some bolt on valve covers or put a wire or something on the clip ons so if you knock one off you don't lose your cover.if you ride like most of us it will be a matter of time before you will lose a valve cover with the clip ons.Chad

Here's my front bumper. I like it much better.
Think I'm going to add a few braces maybe a small top hoop. And or a skid plate ..

Hi Nathan,
I like the bumper.
It looks like it should protect the front end.

Thanks norm. I appreciate the help figuring it out sir ! Here's the finished product. I might slit plate it with diamond plate in the future. I need to get this carb to quiet leaking from the accelerator pump. I will be good to go ride some Before winter sets in. Nothing I have done will stop it ..

For you're viewing pleasure ....

Got a sweet deal today on a three rib pulled from a bus and two sets of type 2 bus axles . Never been in a buggy . Took 3 hours of pressure washing to get it this clean. Still needs more cleaning.

Three hours seems intense. Try to spray it down with degreaser first then power wash. Nice find.
