For street or sand, great. But for the woods the sedan trans is very high geared and not known for strength and durability. Might look into a 3rib bus trans.

Has anyone ran a alternator on a 1641 and still have the generator hooked up to run the fan

not sure what your saying but it would take a lot of rigging to run a alternator and generator at the same time

he wants to run the generator for the cooling system, and a 3 wire alternator for charging. Like something off a 350 or similar

just take the generator off and get you a alternator from autozone or advance for a volkswagon and it takes the fan that on the generator that way you dont have to run both

You'll have to get you a alternator stand as well, but they are cheap for a new one.I'd get that or a new generator,or buy a good used one or other before I'd mount another one.that's more power you'd be robbing that 1641 with the extra one I'd think.Chad

AGREE with Chad. You can buy a 90 amp Bosch alt. that will bolt right up, and run the fan at the same time. NO EXTRA WEIGHT, or problems. Sometimes you just have to bite the bullet, and wisely invest. In your repair free riding trips :!: :!: :!:

I did this coversion on my old 1600, it is pretty simple. Dont forget the alternator stand.
