On the putting motor in by yourself note- , I use an Atv jack with plywood across it.juss jack it up and roll it back. But take a normal floor jack pull the part off the top, make a flat plate to fit on there. and itll work the same  Findin help around here is difficult lol

If someone posted this before I apologize. One of the best things out there to install and remove Vdub motors is a cheap motorcycle lift. They are actually better at lifting these motors in place than picking up 500lb. roadburners. I know buying parts is more important at this point but it is something to consider if you plan on doing the job a few times.

finaly got the motor runing. (sorta). bought a brand new china built 34 pict 3. it fired up but didnt run very well kinda coughed poped and huffed a little bit. filed and set the points it ran a little better. going to replace the points and condenser tommorow and run my vacumm lines (dual vacumm distributor) hopefully it runs well enough to motivate me to finish this thing. I bought brake lines and a new master cylinder today. any sugestions on how to fab some mounts for the brake lines and hoses?

Thanks my 4 year old picked that color. Its the closest thing I could find to grave digger monster truck. Had to buy engine paint to get that color.

I had to do the same repair on my shock towers. I like the idea of welding a bar between the 2.

Finally drove it!!! Brakes suck front wheels lock up to easy. Tranny is OK (auto stick) definately be saving for a bus trans. Motor works OK but pukes oil from the rear crank seal. Only got about ten minutes before the oil light started flickering. So my next task is rebuilding the motor hopefully the thrust is not beat beyond repair. I'm debating on just getting it machined and slapped back together quickly or taking some time and building a decent motor. Other than that it worked great put a smile on my face. Loved watching the neighbors with there noses pressed against the window watching me.

Throw a proportioning valve on the front brakes so you can just dial them way back. I know a lot of woods guys use a hand brake for the front brakes so they can control the front braking without them locking up. Not much weight up there so a little brake seems to go a long way. Looks like a fun ride. Keep the updates coming.

since my first breakdown came pretty early I started thinking about tools and spare parts storage. I have alot of unused realestate under my back seats and all my tools are in cases. I think I can play tetris and get them all to fit but I cant think how to hold them down. I also found some room in front of the shifter that i could fit a 8" round 22" long pvc pipe and strap it down to fit an axle and other spare parts but this takes up cutter brake space later on. any thoughts or sugestions? I might have room to mount a few ammo boxes here and there.
