Well instead of spamming the shoutout box with info, it was suggested to make a post lol.

As you know ive been looking for a cheap buggy. Saw on facebook about a guy that wanted to sell a frame. I pm'ed him on there and got some info and his number. The post was $900 for a frame, 2 seats, brake lines, rear torsion and no front beam. I knew that was way high for a used frame, so i pm'ed him and he said he would go down to 600 firm. I kept talking to him and he said he wanted to get it rolling for me and would try his best to do so.

Rolling= frame, rear torsion with arms, front beam, used tires,2 seats, break lines, steering wheel, body pannels and front arms for the beam and maybe more.

He also said he might be able to get me some stock steel rims(extra $$$).
I told him to keep his eyes open for extra parts.
He also said that for $100 he could sell me some new tires.

So 700 firm with tires.
and 600 firm without.

He still needs to strip it, but here is some pics of it before:

STOP IT! The best way to get the buggy that you will absolutly love is to put away $50 -100 a week and bag it up in the bank. Go to a hillclimb and see the buggy of your dreams and offer a buy out. This "buy an old frame and try to turn an old road ho' into a princess" is dumb. The man hours and nickels and dimes will eat you alive!Let them do the run around math. Chances are they will have their eyes on a newer project anyway.

Allright this is the 3rd damn time ive wrote this

But that would be the ideal idea to follow jesse, but that's difficult and would love to have the satisfaction of putting some blood, sweat and tears into my racer.

The only thing i feel i would have trouble with is the major things:
Tranny/Engine- cuz's, here and maybe some friends/family friend
Suspension/brakes- cuz's, maybe a family friend, and on here
Electrical- My brother might be able to help me (electrician)

I know i could handle:
Steering
Side Panels
Floor- if it doesn't include one???
Harnesses
Gas tank mount
Firewall
Window nets
Bumpers
Dash board
And a bit of frame work

Dude if you have the will and want to do your own build go for it. Every buggy ive ever owned I took apart to the frame and redid every thing on it to suit myself. My single seater i just built is built around me, not just anyone can get in it and drive it. Do it the way you want the first time and be done then youll be happy with it. 8) 8) 8) By the way seems like a decent deal to me.

That's what i'm thinking also dude, just gota wait and see what happens. Buggies are certainly not a rarity around here but buggies for sale are. And finding a good deal is even slimmer lol

If you built a buggy for $5k you cannot make a profit. People only count what was on their plastic (Visa). The gas and time to get in the car and go buy a spark plug is never counted. The welding rods and electricity the soap to wash your dirty clothes. The bed sheets your wife has to wash. And THIS is a dam good factor to consider. I have been passed over at work many many times and can't blame no one but my love for buggies. I would come to work the next day TIRED from the work the nite before while my co-worker had a good nite's sleep eager to jump in the hole and get the job done. I would not get fully going til nearly 10 O'clock.By then my boss had done harnessed his good mules. Then I'd take long lunch breaks to go call a store or get a spark plug. The lies I'd tell the boss to go do something more important than career. When your co-worker has done moved up making 5-$20k a year more, that will buy a MANY a buggys. After you learn what's hot and what's not ,then go build something. Don't make the mistakes I did.My barn is full of old buggy parts where I started out small and moved up.Start out big and stay big! A smart sperm cell knows to go around obstacles to get to the egg.The ones that just stop and wiggle just get douched out.I still say "Walk up and buy it"Buy big-stay big.Who would not want to walk up to Kevin's buggy and buy him out of it?

Yea i'm going to try and make sure it rolls. Otherwise (if he is missing a part here or there) i will see what i can do and maybe he might throw in the tires. I'm a great haggler but we will see what happens. After that i will talk to my family friend and see what he says and go from there. and your guys opinions of course :)

Thanks for the advice Passat, but say for instance you started out big instead of working your way up. Honestly i feel you would have way to much power then you could handle and smash that 5k buggy into a tree. Also think back at all the times you learned something that you would have not known(knowledge, even how to race itself, controlling your machine). Honestly im not really to jump right into a large machine or use anything that is going to give me any doubt. That's not saying i won't take chances, its me saying i'm ready to pay for my mistakes.

5K wouldnt buy the motor and tranny out of my buggy, let alone the whole thing. Ive got a lot of money wrapped up in both my buggys but i did it over a period of time. Thats why i wont sale my rides just for that reason.

one piece of advise when you get to the motor and trans atleast run a 1835 dont start with no stock motor and atleast run a 3 rib and invest in a delarto carb not a slowlex

Jesse i can't im limited to 1600cc. and yea im going to look for a 3 rib

Also i went and saw it and im going to ask a family friend for a second opinion but i really like it, its fits me well, price is great. He is going to start fresh with his new buggy and it getting rid of alot of the parts that went with his old one. The guy is really nice and one hell of an awesome guy. Like someone i would and might hangout with at the races.
He wants 700 for the frame and the new tires it comes with:
Oil cooler
Shifter
Electrical done in it
2 seats with cushions and covers
Brakes in rear are drum
Rear torsion
Rear end(rear arms)
Steering wheel
Horn
Passenger grab bar
Maybe petals???
Tree Bars
All the panels
Floor
Front beam a KING one :)
Front Arms

He helped me out by making a list of what i would need:
Tranny
Engine
2 spindles for front
2 back plates for front
steering brakes
stock rims
shocks
cv's
brake, throttle and clutch cables
2 5 point harness
gas tank
battery
front drums
and thats about it :)
