Transmission that size and all that Clubman 500, you may as well just stick a bulkhead in an come racing :wink:

how are you going to set up the starter? i have a buddy with a sbc with that same transaxle.but i dont know how you will do it with the vw.

Chop the bellhousing and weld a starter housing to the conversion plate is the easiest way, 's all we've done with ours.

Yeah thats the plan, its pretty simple really... lack of funds mean that the buggy is being rebuilt with the 1641 and swing axle though.. :( the rebuild on the 2110 would cost about £1500..

This is what I plan to fit as a new 'cockpit':

The 'screen' angle is steepened to 20 degrees off vertical, any comments from you guys? I've basically copied the cockpit area from what a lot of you guys run. Gives me more headroom and once a couple of diagonals are added it will make it far less likely to fail in a roll.

Some updates for you guys:

The shift rod is all CDS tube and runs in oilite bearings (will have a rubber bellows to seal it and grease nipples)

The engine build has hit a snag, started cleaning up the pistons for the rebuild and found that one has a broken ring :( new rings are available, but I just don't have time to have the bore(s) rehoned..

Thought I should update this thread... the buggy is finished (sort of) it now drives, but doesn't stop, so I'm midway through a brake conversion..

That is a nice buggy. Every mid-engine I've ever seen was for the street or sand, this one looks tough. NIce job!
