Post subject:  porsche motor and tranny in buggy?

im in the process of making my first buggy. dad told me that we have an older porsche motor that needs rebuilt and a good tranny. any one know if i can make this work or how easily it would happen

only info i have about it right now is its the pancake motor. 100 hp

With no other info I would say the trans is a no go for sure. I've been given dozens of reasons over the years to avoid Porsche trannies like strength & lack of over the counter parts not to mention a funky side shifter.

Can you say $$$$$ ?
Do a little research on the cost of engine parts, before you pull the plug.
