Well I just started another buggy build. This will be my 4th one, but the first one with a suby engine. I found a used frame in Georgia and it came with a 1.8 suby, but I have decided not to use it because of the expense of the adapter plate and it not working on any other engine. If I ever wanted to upgrade to a bigger engine I would have to shell out another 450.00 for an adapter. I found a 1998 forester donor for 200.00. It has a 2.5 SOHC. The only draw back is it is a OBD II but I think with some help from the WoodsBuggy brothers and sisters I will eventually get it. Here are a few pics of the frame and the donor. I haven't gotten started good yet just been trying to round everything up.

engine wireing dot come can help with that harness, and big scott on here has done his own obdll harness. can you run across anymore donor cars with the 2.5 in your area?? if so im looking for a couple

looks good man! i found out the hard way after you mount the engine fab up some motor mount to your engine cage

the extra torque of the suby broke my front tranny mount i redid the tranny mount and fabed some solid motor mounts to my engine cage

if it has to mount on the left, i suggest a single handle turn brake and keep it inside the cage

i got a nice one from small car performance, its all aluminum and holds a full 5 quarts without looseing any ground clearence!

I did a couple of them just layed it down on mounting surface and measured 4" up the whole way around then cut it off nice and straight . then cut a flat plate to fit and weld it up then check for leaks. and drill the spot welds on oil plug and put it in center of pan. you wont cut much out of pick up. i just cut it in half and figured out buy measuring what i would have to cut to make it fit in pan. you will have to trim a little out of the baffle in the pan for the shorter pickup.

Lookin good! When I did mine, I already built the rear cage and then traced the lines over to the oil pan from the bottom 2 tubes then I cut it about a 1/4" above the line and welded sheet metal back onto it.
