Some expanded metal would look good over the fan and around the lights

I already have expanded metal running through the center section protecting the radiator, just no recent photo showing it. I like the way you think Travis. 8)

Mike are you renting this thing to Wells Fargo to haul gold when not in the woods. That is fortified. Love the 3" exhaust.

Never thought of that  I was approached by Norfolk Southern RR to build some locomotives for them and that is a 4" exhaust, it provides a unique sound.

the real reason for the four inch exhaust ....... its gonna be powered by Image

OK, OK, I really don't care how much the thing is gonna weigh, and I don't care what gauge the tubing is or what size exhaust pipe it has. What is really important to me is what color is the frame gonna be and what color are you gonna paint the body????

It would be easier to tell you what colors it won't be and green is at the top of the list followed by red and yellow
Henry Ford said you can have any color you want, as long as it's black. Black powder coat is the easiest to touch up for repairs an additions. As far as the fiberglass, don't know yet. I'm trying to get my brother to design a vinyl wrap for it that doesn't cost $1,000.
The way things are going that is a long way off. Between work and the planned move of my shop coming up this spring, this project might need to be on the back burner for a little while. :(

This is how I decided to fix ugly. One of the previous owners decided to gusset some corners with 1/4" plate. If that wasn't bad enough they welded it with a stick welder. :x
Image
Grinding all this out was not an option so I used a piece of 1 1/2" .062 and bent it to match the angle of the bars and cut it in half and matched it with sheet metal.

Not a bunch going on except I finally got the chassis off the jig table and on the ground. I have the car sitting at ride height which is 5" into the suspension front and rear. As it sits now I have 16" of ground clearance under the beam.
Image

At the lowest point in the back I have 14 1/2" of clearance.
Image

I also have the water tight box the ECU and relays will live in installed, it's not the best place to put it but I didn't have a bunch of options.
Image
Image

And finally my twisted sense of humor. I had hillaholic's friend Mary make up a couple of patches for me. When one is strapped into their car they are having fun and enjoying themselves so I thought this was appropriate.
Image
When your not in the car your not having the same good time so this fits as well, at least it does for me.

Interesting turn of events going on here. Fourtydegnorth had a set of high angle half shafts that Odyknuck bought from him hoping he would be able to use with minimal alterations. As it turned out they were not useable on his set up, so I asked him if I could try them out and see if they would work on my car. The axles bolted in like they were made for my arms.
Image
This is a good thing and a bad thing at the same time. In order to get the max potential out of these axles I need to switch my arms over to a parallel swing. I was going to alter my arms to a parallel swing but decided not to.
Image
The pictures of this axle does it no justice at all. This stuff is massive, it's built from parts that you would find under a C-60 GM 14 bolt rear or I'm told a Ford F-550. In case anyone knows drive line stuff the u-joints are 1410 size. There is no way I'm going to break them so they are mine. So I have some major changes coming up, I need to alter my torsion housing to except a parallel swing arms, have Avery's build me a set of 4X5 parallel swing arms, Redo my air bag mounts, shock mounts and I might need to relocate a few minor items. The good part is it's still under construction so now is the best time to change things.
I feel it necessary to update this aspect of the build. After a few setbacks with these axles,
THEY ARE NOT RECOMMENDED AT ALL

Mike, those do look nice.
What are you going to do with your old arms?
Don't know why I'm asking, I haven't installed the last set I got from you.
I did talk with Todd at Precision Alloy about getting his drive/stub flanges. I should have some soon.

Thanks Norm, thanks everyone. The original arms might already be sold, too early to tell yet. And Todd is a fantastic guy to work with, you won't be sorry with his products.

Should of had an auction on the arms, you would have had a bidding war! :D

Axles look great on there. I couldn't believe how heavy they were. They are true beasts. They come up for sale sometimes on other sites. I'll keep my eyes open if any pop up.

I did some research on them. The 1410 U-joint has a max angel of 37 deg, will handle 250 ftlb torque continuous duty and 1500 ftlb torque intermittent duty, so heavy duty is an understatement at best. They are on the heavy side so I will most likely loose on my bet with Terry. There is no way I'm going to hurt them with a 170 hp, 1500lb car which pleases me to no end.

It's crazy how quick the arms sold, wish I could sell everything that fast. I told a couple of guys up here about them and just like that there gone. One of the Guys from the Village bought them, so they will stay local.

Time to get busy and make some "adjustments" that will be worth the time and energy. I thought I was going to have a bunch of wheel travel before but with the new axles and arms it will be off the chart.
