Well. When life hands you lemons....build a new buggy! HAHAHA Expensive VW blew up and I decided to replace it with a Outfront Suby. Then, I started thinking about where I was gonna put the radiator. Then I decided it would just be easier to build a new buggy with room for a radiator. :D I am not a photo journalist so I weld more than I snap pics but here is what the last 6 weekends have yielded....

The first one was only ever half mine. This was my first try from the ground up. All opinions welcome. Can't make the back 'til the suby shows. My high dollar shop makes it feel like "Days of Thunder"

Thanks. I was going for somewhere between berrien style and "mini' pre-runner. 113" Wheelbase. Stock Width with 3x3 arms. It has a floor, steering and dash now. Post some more pics at the end of the weekend.

I am trying for a chilly trip to haspin this fall to put it through the paces and see if anything is gonna break then off to the powdercoat guy. The seat is higher. It is 2" taller cause I thought I liked it there. I am gonna lower it one inch though. I put the other one as low as I could because a couple of my friends are 6'3" and up. Damn tall people messing up my program. They both have sliders cause everything important (except the beer) is gonna be behind them. Need to be able to get back there.

10 sticks of 1 1/2 and 6 sticks of 1 1/4 (all .095) and that should cover the rear hoop as well. 320 feet or so total. I want to put it on my friends race scales and see what it weighs. It doesn't feel much heavier in the nose than the old buggy.

I hear you on the comfort factor. I can't wait to hit 3rd gear and not my passengers knee. Done that enough. Single seat looks fun in the sand with a 'busa engine. 8) If it wasn't for two seat buggies you couldn't show your freinds how amazingly fun they are and get them all addicted too! Besides... Gentlemen's rules say passenger gets out and hooks the winch. Thanks for the compliments. Try and get some more done this week.

Nice looking buggy.
I like the LED backup light.
Where did you get them?
They look like they are waterproof.
Were they expensive?

Thanks. Vision X is the company that makes them. You have probably seen the 4 foot wide ones they make on baja cars (they also make the headlights for the space shuttle). They are $125 each on EBAY and they come with lifetime warranty from vision x. You can also get them in 3 different beam patterns and they are "EVERYTHING" proof. The entire light is solid aluminum for heat dissipation. They also make a 6.5 inch spot that has 7 of these. Brighter than a KC Daylighter and only draw 5 amps. Need to hit the lotto so I can get me some of those.

Power Steering ram is all mocked up finally....
Image

Electrical boxes will have bolt on lid with gasket. Drivers side will have one more small access lid on top of that to get to fuses. All wires run through pipe stubs and when the wiring is done I will Great Stuff the tubes. Nice and dry.
Image
Image
And then throw in just a pinch of Hillbilly for Flavor......
Image
Next on the "TO DO" list is make that stay on without tape...

I was in a wiring mood the last few days and didn't want to waste the energy so I got my stereo pre-wired.
Here is the box....
Image
Here is the box with the amp and crossovers for the components. The amp is a 5 channel MTX Marine amp. It will give me 300 watts for the 3 way Eclipse components and 600 watts for a MTX 10" sub...
Image
Here is with radio brain unit wired in....
Image
Originally the radio fit above the crossovers and it all went under a flat lid... That didn't pan out with all the wiring in as well so...
Image
I told my buddy I didn't know if it was the "Monitor" or the "Merrimac"
Here is finished with battery mount and weather pak connectors...
Image
That is officially the most compact complete audio system I have ever done.
