Is that an all hydrolic system? No gearing?

Yup. Its a bunch of parts I have been saving from fork lifts that I've scrapped.

A lot of orbital valves used for hydraulic steering have a manual override in them in case of the pump not running. You are however screwed if you break a hose.
RaceBugg... judging by the amazing work you do on your buggies I am guessing you are set with the steering, but if you need any help pm me. I design and build hydraulic systems for a living. I am already thinking of building a hyraulic drive buggy. Similar to a chaindrive, but with hydraulic motors at each wheel and no transmission.

I know you can still steer a fork lift without the motor running, plus I'll just blame it on my wife if it runs into something!
Thanks, ringer, I might get myself into a mess with all these mix and match parts, but I won't know untill I get a motor in it.

I've been toying around with that Hydro drive as well, let me know what you come up with for the wheel speed, that is where I was nervous. And RidenRace, I would personally cut out the Vertical 1" tube and Move it forward in front of the Tie rods.

Running a 35" tire it wouldn't be hard to reach 70 mph. Using an accumulator for supplemental flow you could get very fast off the line acceleration while keeping a variable piston pump smaller. Finding a good lightweight engine that could run at a constant rpm would be a challenge. Motorcycle engine??? It would also be easy to go from open diff to locker at the flick of a switch on the dash.

I was leaning towards cutters on the hydro. SKID STEER! Without the binding and torque on parts. Hook the handles to a bypass that allows the fluid to bypass the hydro motors and waalaa, lol. I think a small diesel would be good like how a bobcat runs. More efficient at a steady RPM, I think.

Made some progress this weekend. I got the steering valve mounted, fixed the tierod clearence issues, and started screwin around with shock mount ideas in the front.

Think those shock mounts will hold up?

Got one shock tower almost done. It only took about 6hours or so to build  I'm not sure what to do with the top. Either round it off or make it pointy and sharp and dangerous

Looking awsome! I noticed you welded your beam to the frame. Is that Tubing over tubing on the ends? We have issues with bending 6" over beams in the Woods. I have straightend mine out however as metal has memory it does not take much of a hit to re beand it. Are you using 4140 or some grade of CM?

Thanks! I sleaved the ends of the beam about 6 inches past the ends of the arms where it usually bends when you run big arms. Its all dom I think. I can't think of the last time I had to take a beam off of my buggy, so I just weld it in for stregnth and simplicity

I was tempted to weld mine in when I built the Buggy, however I was concerned about it bending as it has done. Have you bent one yet that has been done the way yours is?

I haven't bent one in 5 or so years. This is also the first time I have sleaved one. I think the way I bent the piece of 1.5" for the tie rods to drop lower and welded it as close to the end of the beam as I could will greatly reduce the chances of bending it.
