Is that just a piece of tubbing with a stem welded to one side and sharpened on the other?

Have you used these just to remove some plys on tractor tires. If so what size tube would you recommend?

What kind of pattern do you recommend for removing "V" grove tracter tire lugs. Is there any advantage to also doing the front "V" grove style tracter tires?

Steve, I have the top one. That is what my son used to cut MadMike's and my tires. For the price, It's the best investment.

I agree w/ DVS1. The bigger cutter (the one with the transformer) gets hotter and flies thru the flat area between the lugs, but you still gotta go back with the little one (or SOMEthing) to cut out the radius right in front of the lugs and sharpen them. The bigger one will eat up some blades, too. The smaller one is the way to go, unless you want to spend the money for both of 'em.
