Sorry if this is in the wrong forum or subject. I was wondering if theres a way to tell what size a motor is without tearing it down. Just want to be sure there motor is what its said to be.

You could Dyno Test it.. That might give you a little bit more info but the results could be incorrect if the engine is not tuned well..

You can measure the stroke by using a screwdriver and insert it in the spark plug hole up against the pistion. Then turn the motor over until it reachs bottom dead center. Mark the screwdriver at the base of the spark plug hole. Rotate the motor to top dead center. Then measure how far the screwdriver comes out of the head. BTW do this slowly! This will at least give you an Ideal of what range displacement the engine will be in. IE; Stock stroke = 1600, 1776, 1835, 1915 depending on piston diameter. You could pull one of the heads off and measure the Piston diameter to get the exact displacement and its easyer to determine stroke.

Yea Im still alive, Im trying to get the buggy up and moving. Might be tradin the samurai for a buggy with whats said to be a 1915 with dual carbs thats why i was wonderin if theres a way to tell what the motor is. But i got another guy comin to check it out today So maybe he'll buy it and I can just have my new one built So i can have the buggy for memorial. Unless someone has a motor their sellin thats ready to bolt on.
