I have a big problem. I'm trying to buy a new buggy, but i cant decide what i want. Either I buy a built buggy and go play or I take the time and build my own. If you could please let me know the pros and cons of both sides THANKS

I guess it all depends on your mechanical knowledge, experience with buggy's and your budget.

I built mine because I wanted a 4 seater and I wanted to make sure I knew every nut & bolt on the buggy. However, you can buy a buggy for half what it will cost you to build. There are a lot of good used buggy's for sale.

It is a big decision .On the one hand if you buy a built buggy you can save some time and a lot of cash,But you don't really know what you have .On the other hand ,if you build a buggy you spend a lot of cash But you know what ya got. And you need to kinda know what kind of riding you gonna do .Where I live I like a CD. But if I lived say around Larry or D&K I would like a CD still cause there the BEST BUT that's another story I was hoping to get to ride at D&K more this past year so I could have let KoKo drive a real buggy so he could make a informed decision but I did not make it in time But that's ok you gotta start some where

What is CD? I need a buggy that is very strong. About how much does it cost to build a half decent buggy with new frame I really like the Beeline 98'' pack rat. Im also talking to bluebuggy about buying his.

what is the differance i understand that it chain driven but i mean on the trails is it about the same as the differance as a ARB air locker and limited slip rearend on a 4x4

That is a bad ass buggy but if your motor has to much power and hook you will strip the teeth right off the sprocket ive done that on my GSXR 1000

buy a built buggy!!!!! ride it for awhile learn about it .and if you really enjoy it you can build one the way you like it. building a buggy is alot of work and if you ride and learn a little about them it will make it go alot better. jmo and i think your sprockets were wore out!

buying a running rig is def the way to go...i have dropped more then most of the rigs are selling for and im just a roller right now...

if i was to do it all over again i would have bought the best built used rail and then fix the parts that i break...as they say only the weak parts break...after all the dust clears and the new parts you have one sick rail!

well i belive you should buy mine and save the 2 grand and ride the guts out of it and what breaks you can fix with the 2 grand you saved that i spent building it but hey maybe I'm partial haha

2 of mine I bought complete & upgraded them as I rode. 2 were rollers that I redid & put back in the woods & Im finally building my first from scratch because Im tired of compromising on stuff. I know what I want & Im tired of not having it. It will take you years to have a want list. Start with the best deal you can get on a running rail & go from there. When it gets to the point that your ideas dont fit the rail sell it & get one closer to your vision. If you cant find it, build it.

For what you want out of it he would have a great buggy for the money. Cut the boggers & taller front tires & hit the woods. For not too much money your engine can go to 1915 which is plenty while he learns what he wants out of a buggy.

the cry one time theory is good for the people that have money , i beleive that theory is great when your upgrading broken parts or just have the extra cash to upgrade ! this was my first year with running the buggys and from my experience im glad i went the route that i did . i was going to start from scratch but after researching prices on frames , engines , driveline down to tires and lighting i came to the conclusion of buying a build car , while looking around i went to a auction and found a rail complete that needed some work then realized it was way to short so i found a used warrior roller and bought it . so i switch every good part i had to the warrior and learned many things while doing it so repairing the buggy will be not as hard down the road what it boils down to is what i have heard on here a few times from larry alot of people get frustrated from issues with there buggy and get out of it before they can enjoy how much fun they are , which i can not agree with anymore !!!! so my opinion would be buy a built one and enjoy it then upgrade as you go to your linkings !!!!!!!! and also listen to these guys because they know there stuff !!!! good luck, jason

I basically built mine. I have put so much money and work into it and it's nothing great. I kind of have a love hate relationship with that thing. I could have spent $3000 and had a buggy that was just as good and I wouldn't have countless hours working on it.
Unless you just want to tell people you built it.
I've built lots of stuff in my life, the thrill is gone.



Also as far as you "gixxer" goes. If you are running steel sprokets there is no way you should be loosing teeth unless your chain alignment is wrong. I know people with built busa that run 630 chain with no problems. For your bike a 500 series should hold up fine. I have been riding for years and I have never wiped out teeth. I've drag raced and pulled wheelies. I don't leave lights like a granny either.

If you build a buggy your gonna wish you had started with a buggy and adjusted it to fit you. If you buy one already built your gonna change it to fit you and add your own touches. I think it is easier to make mods than to figure out from scratch. Later you may want to make even more changes ,,then you can build a buggy when you have the time, experience, money and tolerant wife

the sprocket on it is stock but the motor is not its bottle fed stage three power comander its to fast for the streets i have to leave the street lights in 2nd otherwise it will come up

I swore a few years back I'd never build another one from scratch, and here I am now building a dang ole air-cooled single seater from scratch, don't know what's wrong with me.

renfroe I don't care what kind of power you put on a gsxr that was not the problem ...had to be a bad sprocket ....top fuel bikes run chain.
