HEY GUY'S,
just talked with leroy wilborn , this year it will be rid'in only for buggy's , did'nt make enough last year off buggy entry's or proceeds towards buggys that could keep our sport go'in there at his park , but would like for everyone to come out and enjoy the park every chance we get , when theres no competetion's ' i think we should still visit this park and ride as we can , if everyone agrees!! :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :(
there will be plenty of rock crawler events for us to go watch if we like!!

Wow. Rock crawlers? Does he really think more people are gonna come watch slow ass rock crawlers over guys race and flipping and stuff in buggies? I think this is a mistake and he just lost a shit ton of riders, buggy or non buggy. I really hate to see this. I will still go to ride and see my good friends cause I enjoy the riding. I really liked the races too. Even tho I don't race I love bullshitin with my best buds and giving them the finger at the top of the hill when there steering wheel comes off. I guess thats off now. Wow this is shit if you ask me.

I think many of the buggy riders online like to go and ride the park when there is races so Im afraid alot of them wont be around anymore. This was the best place and the best races I know of in the lower states. I mean we have Ironhorse... blahhh wtf, and Stonely Lonesome.... aint been there and havent heard the greatest things about that place either. Well I guess im upset about this. I will miss the karaoke and miss flaunting around my surrender the booty flag to all the ladies like Wellies wife (she wants me).
WTF!!!!

I dont know about plenty of rock crawler events to watch,I know they are expanding some of the more rocky areas for rock crawlers to ride(over by the interstate side),just to have something to offer the 4x4 community as well

Hey Ron,
Why dont you ask Leroy if he will let you do a hill climb event like that one you tried to get started up in the canyon. Just say $30 bucks a buggy or even $50 and it all pays back? Maybe shoot dave and chris 50 off the top to use the laser timers? :P

That sucks.. I really like Wilborns. They could get a lot more buggy's if it was not so expensive to ride there. Charging for each person, each day of riding, each night of camping and the competition gets really expensive.

I don't understand what he means by didn't make "enough"? did he not make any profit, or just not enough?? My uncle had a business and he sold it to a guy that got rid of a bunch of the small side things they did because it didn't make "enough" profit, which is completely ignorant, all profit adds up it doesn't matter how little it is. I guess if he thinks he can make more money on a normal weekend compared to an "event" weekend it's his park, but that just doesn't make any sense to me...

hey dave,
leroy said he was only gonna have several rock crawler events this year , just no buggy hill climbs , i don't know how many , just trying to keep the crowd interested , because this park has a lot of rid'in & stuff to do either way , it's his park & his call , i was in reference to how many buggy hill climbs & events he had when we first came there .
he said some of the events would be at the same place he had the buggy barrel race at before , with easy
access for the spectaters , nothing has changed as for buggy rid'in , just no hill climbs will be scheduled!!
i enjoy rid'in this park as well as any i've been to & more than some :D :D :D :D :D

again this does not mean no buggy rid'in ' just no hill climbs , i've been countless times just to ride trails & climb hills at leisure " lots of fun " every time , date has'nt changed , he will be open the first of feburary as usual , he has a new store and more camping spots with power & water than before !!
:D :D :D

hey marty,

thats exactly right , we need more than one place to schedule events , i think we can count on several places
(event wise) this year , such as stoney lonesome , morris mountain , iron horse , choccolocco , windrock ,
crazy horse , d & k offroad in ky & a few others!!!!    8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8)

this is total BS because i was at every hillclimb this year and the crowd was allways bigger than it was on a "regular" weekend of riding unless there was someother event or club ride going on

oh well i guess ill just have to go to stoneylonesome instead since they are willing to support us ill support them   :?

From what I was told on the inside story is that it really doesnt have much to do with profit. But more running out of help to run events and people complaining about this and that. I was told there is nooo events period put on the calender. No boggs, no cancer ride, no rock crawling, no sxs, no hillclimbs. Just open every weekend regular riding. But if some clubs or some people wanted to put something together that would be ok. Like if we all decided to have a big drag race or something. And Chris you are right, there is 10x the people there on events. So I dont think it comes down to profit.

As far as other places go, Brutons dont have near as good as the riding as at Wilborns. Iron Horse aint worth a crap. I loved that race but I could ride 30 mins there and be board as hell. I donno about stoney or the others. I know everyone likes to climb hills but some people enjoy crusin some good trails as much as climbing. So some of these other parts that is nothing but hills and only a mile of trails I could care less about unless its just for a hill climb comp or something. And I know I dont like to climb but I have talked to a few other people that agreed with me saying they like to ride some good trails too not just climb. Guess I will be seeing a hole lot more sand this year.

so could we still have a woodsbuggy get together and do like a poker run or something at wilborns?

i really like it when there is gonna be a bunch of buggies somewhere because i enjoy just talking and hanging out with likeminded people, having a few drinks, and watching the crazies as much as anything

also stoneylonesome seems like a good place so far even though it only opened this year and ive only been twice so far, they are very easy going and open to suggestions especially to be county run :D

Yes I think Wilborns would be very much so open to a club event and such. Just have to ask but thats kinda what I was told. The park just wont provide anything or any help is my guess. I think a poker run or just a big ride date would be a great Idea. Maybe Ron will man up and make another small hill climb like he almost did last year. I will miss the big crowds too and seeing you drunk chris hahahaha.

What was the riding like at stoney? and how much riding?

Yep me too. I was told Leroy just got tired of all the whining and crying. and other things. I know for a fact people do this a lot, I have heard many people mone and groan at D&K at the events. And they always go to Darrell even when it is not his event. ( Curts Hill Climb) There were many people that bitched too Darrell about the hill climb and Darrell had nothing to do with that hill climb.
So if you are going to enter an event this year do not BITCH at the parks. Some rules everyone should go by. #1 find out all the rules #2 find out all the rules #3 most importantly FIND OUT ALL THE RULES!!!!!! #4 If you did not understand the rules get someone to explain them too you. #5 if you still do not understand the rules DO NOT ENTER, JUST GO ON A TRAIL RIDE!   If everyone that had a complaint at one of the events would have understood the rules before entering they would not have had a complaint in the end. If you do not like the rules at a place do not enter. or ask before hand to change them. I know Wilborns had many events this past year, and I would have loved to went to them. But they were mostly on weekends that I had other commitments so I just did not go. I heard some folks griping about the pay out at Wilborns Well you should ask before you go how much pay out it is if you do not like the pay out do not go. I know of 1 event that was if there is 15 or 20 buggys we will pay out an extra $1000.00. Well I knew I would be taking a chance if I went. So I did not go because I did not think there would be that many buggys there. I did not gripe I asked and understood the rules before I went.

Also has anyone looked at Wilborns old web site lately? Not the new one his old original site.     Well Leroy has been busy making films it looks like.    I had their site save to my favorites and last week looked at it and holly      I can understand why Leroy has no love loss for buggys. with all the bashing of his place.

I think if 10 a head is good for one place it should do for the rest .That place with a person to run it right could have made a fortune. He had no use for buggies to begin with he only saw $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Every one wanted to talk about him helping the buggy community ,Please I tried to talk to him about a circuit of hill climbing events he said 'No I want to have them all here' it was greed that ruined this place

And before everyone starts this is jmo always has been
I like the people there ,Most I had road with at Fultondale
and Willie there is at least 3 other places around there to ride that ain't so pocket oriented [as in yours]

Boyd,

I like to go trail riding as well. When you get your new rail finished, we can head up to Coal Creek or LBL for some trail riding.

stoneylonesome is pretty nice in my opinion they have a nice mostly rocked main trail that pretty much runs down the middle of the park with trails that go off both sides and they are cutting more trails and hills that we (buggyriders) pointed out and laid out with rope and even cut a few on the spot while we were there

they said if there was a hill we wanted cleaned off and or cut out just let them know and in my opinion this attitude is one that is hard to beat especially if the terrain has the potential of a good park as far as hills, trails and so on and i believe this place has about as much potential as wilborns
