So what type of tire you guys like for climbing? I of course am sold on Boggers. I have a buddy that does real well on cut Buckshots. And you can't argue with the traction of a tractor tire. Whats your favorite?

Just ordered another set of Firestone Flotation 23's today, unfortuneatly they have to be 8 ply.

They are not making the 4 ply anymore. I am in negotiations with Firestone currently to see if they will do a special production run. They have agreed to do this but they have a large minimum to meet. This is where I am trying to negotiate. I have some senior managers in other divisions of the company trying to help me. I should know something in the next few weeks.

I don't know what the minumim is but I sure know alot of guys that want those. When I bought my rims from Drews they had I think 2 pair they were going to keep for themselves. As partial as I am to the Boggers I know those tires work. Maybe if they made 35"

If I can't work out a deal on a special production run of the 4 ply Firestones, I will most likely get a set of Boggers when my current tires wear out.

Hey Roy, you been able to make any new progress on that deal? I know you've been busy with the new property and all, but just wondering. (Anxiously!)

Anyone heard of an import tire company producing a tire that appears to be very similiar to Firestones? Supposedly they are for some small to medium landscape type backhoe. The person I heard it from said they were 4-ply, 23 degrees diggers that looked dead like Firestones. I couldnt hardly believe he didnt get the EXACT name of them, but he runs 36" boggers on a V6 powered woodsbuggy tank and I guess he wasnt too worried about it. :twisted:

Boggers , even when cut, look like they'd feel like "Fred Flintstone's" wheels on a light buggy. Do they have enough sidewall flex to bite over big roots and stuff? Are they very heavy compared to a cut 4-ply? I've got some 33x 12.50's TSL's on my offroad only Cherokee . They were already on it when I bought it. Never had a wheel off of it, but they seem HEAVY.

I have done just about all I can do at this point and I am waiting on a response from Firestone. Like I said, I should know something soon. Trust me, If I can make this happen, everyone will know. I will have tons of tires to get rid of.

Yer killin me, again!!!

I can definately see the benefits of availability and just about any size you need in the boggers. I hope I didnt offend with my joke in my last post. Just pokin' fun a little!! You got me wondering now, I've never weighed my diggers mounted up on my alum. rims. Sunday, I'll see if I can sneak the scales out to the shop w/o gettin a fryin' pan upside the head.

My son cuts tires for me and the rest of the guys in the crew. (He's the only one who'll put in 15 hours of work for $100!!! He's 12). He weighed 30 lbs of rubber cut off my last two new 4-ply firestones!

Dont guess it matters how light they are if they cant be bought!!

I am saving the rubber that my nephew is cutting off his tires. I want to see what it weighs. And don't worry about offending me. Some misguided folks consider me a little bit offensive. I know thats shocking.

Well, even the 8 ply firestone's are on back order. Has anyone weighed a 8 ply firestone uncut and compared it to a 33 bogger? After seeing both Dean and Roy climb hills I know they both work well. So I'm torn between the two. If the 33 bogger weighs less than the firestone 8 ply, then I'll cancel my order and get some boggers. Any suggestions?

Do you have a differant gear in your tranny? If not I don't see how you can run those short tires. I have a set of BFG's that I bought for riding at East Lynn State Park in W.Va. They are about 31" tall and I couldn't use 1st gear. I guess I don't see how you can run that short tire with the big motors.

I sold a set of those firestone and weighed them with a steel rim they were 125lbs a piece,dont know what my 35 boggers weigh but its doesnt matter because they HOOK!!!aaron

I have a set of 8 ply firestones on 15 x15 alum. rims,and they weigh about 62 lbs. I never weighed them before i started cutting them,but i took of 24lbs on each tire. I even cut the side walls down to the bead,to try to let it flex.It helped some but its still stiff. The problem is they only come in 31's,and even with a six rib,i need more 1st gear.

Ahhh, you know. Everyone likes to feel like they have made the best decision.

I managed to get the scales out to the shop and weigh everything I had sittin around:

All tires are 31x14.50 23* flotations
uncut 4ply, steel 12" rims no beadlocks - 83 lbs

cut 4ply, tire only, 1 ride- 45 lbs
I was suprised, thought it'd be less

cut 8ply w/ several seasons on them, cords showing all between the lugs -45 lbs
Even MORE suprised--same as new cut 4ply

Thats only 9 lbs lighter than your boggers on aluminum. And you got a 2" taller. I never "wuud a thunk it."

How much are boggers, anyways? Say about a 31 x 14.50. :wink: Sounding better all the time!

The cheapest I found boggers 33x14.5x15 were $220 at Summit and my price was $180 for the flotations. Thanks for the scale info.

We have a few here that have tried the boggers and they don't like them as well as the Firestones. I am running cut P's for the past two years now. Roy we talked about them before on TOS. The Firestones are harder to get now and wish I would have never sold mine looking back on it.
