Glad to be the first international member! :D
good to see ya wild kids, is there many from STF on this forum?

thanks for the comments also..

question, looking over allot of the pics posted on this site. everyone seems to cut the small lugs off the boggers, i had planned on using my car as a street legal off road machine when i bought my tires..but things have changed..its off road only now. do you think it would be a wise idea for me to cut off my small lugs also? it makes sence to me. tires wont plug up as much.. should get better grip on the rocks and such....

i have been thinking that my fresh rebuilt 002 tranny wont last very long running high traction tires like the boggers.. how do your trannys hold out?

i have a race tranny waiting for me (just need the cash) but i figured i would try to have some fun with what i have at the moment..

do you think the stock 002 can hold up at all? even a few days?

thanks
Cale

I have been running a stock 002 for two years with "V" tread tires and it still works fine. I do not baby it either. I know of other guys running the 002 and most dont have any problem. Stay away from dumping the clutch and you should be fine.

Cutting out the lugs will give more traction but better yet it makes the tires lighter which improves performance. The lighter your wheel and tire combination, the better your car will work.

One thing on the 002s is the ones with the mounting bos'es on the top of the bell housing are the strongest of the 3 ribs. I would put your 5 rib in it. It has a better ratio Ring and Pinion gear set up and is stronger than the 3 rib.

Great looking baja project you got there! I wish I could say I will be done in a month. Kind of ran into a little stall with the money

I hear ya Jim. When I built my car I stalled several times waiting on the funds to build back up. I went over budget by 5 grand when I did my build.

I wish i had made a budget when i started my car, im sure i would have been driving it a long time agao if that was the case..

ya my car has ran into major stalls along the way. my work has a habbit of sending me out of town and making me feel rich..then stickin me back home and making me realy poor :D .. its been going on for about 5 years off and on, soon to be ready though, most of the expensive stuff is done.
