I've been riding since 1974. Probably before many of your were even born. We started riding here in Wellsville , Ohio when the area was 3 times as big as it is now. Everything was being riden then from motorcycles to 57 Plymouths . Us "bigshot riders" , Ha Ha , of the time started building " Pan Buggies ". The tube chassis' came a few years later. I sold my latest tube chassis a couple of months ago to build a new one. Mean time I got caught up in a lay off at work and just can't constitute spending the money for a new chassis until call back. Who knows ! What I'm going to do is build an old school " Pan Buggy " and put my motor and components on it. Oh , just for GP , I'm going to run a swing arm transaxle too. No high zooot design , just old school. I was thinking that it might be fun for those that wanted to to join in and have a " Pan Buggy " build off challenge. We can post pictures here and next spring to start the season off have a trail ride for the Challenger Buggies. Anyone up for it ??? Be Creative / Cut / Weld / Ride Gonzo |

That would be more competitive but how would you enforce it ? I fiqure I'll have about $300 in my buggy with the parts that I have on hand so there is a cost factor in what's in the garage even though it's all old school parts. For example, I could put my CNC steering brake in but wouldn't it be more interesting going back in time and making one out of two master cylinders mounted back to back. We could say a $500 limit without the engine and no trick parts. Let's talk about it if there is enough interest ? This could be a good time. Gonzo |

Me n Yankee have talked about how it might be fun to go back to a couple 1641/ car tranny/ 28" vtreads buggies built on lil bare bones berrien knockdowns or sumthin. Every thing would be a challenge then, no need to risk life n limb or destroying an expensive buggy to get a rush.  ....................Maybe, or maybe it would just suck.Larry |

Pulled out some 14'' tires mounted on steel bus rims and cut for dirt and fetched a swing arm from the shed to get started. I have a IRS pan that I'll use just because I have it. Point is to use whats on hand. I used to cut 14'' out of a pan but will only go 10'' this time gaining a little more room. If I can fiqure out how to use this Digi camera, I'll send some pics in on the project. I never excelled in electronic gizmos. Later on , Gonzo |

i remember my dads buggy when i was a kid it was a stock pan and a race car cage just the part you set in and the steering brake was the emergency brake with a handle for each side. and stock bug seats

Hi Davehix, What is your dad's name ? I used to race with a bunch from the Connelsville area. In fact we had a big race in Wellsville, Ohio in 1976. I was a member of the Outsiders. There was several racing clubs around the Burgh. Pittsburg Pro's and Brush Riders are some that comes to mind. Art Schmit that drives for Nissan raced with the Pros at that time. my friend's dad and uncle used to race buggies... their last names are Duke. I'll see if i could find out a little more info about them. they still have a one seater that they're just letting rot away. looked like it could have been real nice at one time. i don't know where all they raced, i'm guessing all around. we all live in alabama. |

We Raced primairily in Ohio and Pa. By the way , I see a pan buggy on the opening page for this web site , complete with Tee Pee header . Remember those ? Gonzo |
