would it be best to just bore out a bug motor to like a 1915cc or so or just go ahead and buy a 2000cc bus motor? i mean about how much difference are they? and would you have to do any mods to the frame if you was to run a bus motor? |

If you come across a stock T-4 engine and don't mind using it as is it will work fine. Otherwise you can build three or four 1915s for the price of an Off Road T-4. |

FYI the cost to build a T-4 has come way down in the last few years. Jake Rabi stocks all the parts to build T-4s. When I first got into Buggys I was going to build a T-4 however the price at that time was to high. I did end up with a T-4 1800 that I took apart for the project if your Interested. |

T-4 engines will have more torque than an equal T-1 and will be stronger. Go here and plan to spend a week or two reading http://www.shoptalkforums.com/ . There shouldn’t be any modification needed if you decide to go with a T-4 but do keep in mind that if you decide to upgrade a few parts they will be a little harder to come by, and if you want the three stud heads off the Porsche then you need to hold on to the pocket book. And yes Jake Raby is considered the guru of T-4 engines. |
