My friend used one on his four seater he had a time with bump steer I don't know if he ever fixed it, since he was not big on corners just turbos and straight lines. If you could find a center steer the bump problem would be easier to resolve. I think there is a very recent post on a Huyndai center steer rack install in the buggy builds. |

I recently put a late model gm rack on my buggy and after reading posts on here i myself was worried about bumpsteer. After doing my own investigating i found that bumpsteer can be corected on pretty much any steering rack. It all has to with the arc of the control arms in relation to arc of steering linkage. Bump steer can be corrected by changing the height of the outer tie rod end in relation to spindle and rack and so on.I,m no engineer so i did this by trial and error and it was time consuming. I mounted rack in three differeent location before getting it right. When i started the smallest bump would make car change lines(SCARY)now it is as good if not better than with vw box and linkage. However it would have been easier with center mount rack and If i ever go to longer travel suspension as oposed to stock travel i think i will have to go to center steer as this rack doesnt appear to have any more travel in it. I love the feel and tightness of r&p as opposed to vw box. |
