Who's starter is it? I have a Super Starter that's 4 years old. Are you sure you have all good connections, battery is fully charged and all the basic stuff is right?? |

I have to take mine apart once a year or so to clean everything up in it. The inside usually looks like it was from the Titanic |

I have a 6v starter that has a 12v gear on it and it has been starting my 4.3 for a couple years w/ no problems and it was a lot cheaper than a true Hi torque. |

I have built a lot of those... they work really well. The main thing is to make sure you have/keep a good bushing in the trans... 12 volts will NOT burn up a 6 volt starter unless you crank it for a long time. If you h ave an engine that starts easily the way it should, then the starter will last for many years. |
