What does everyone think of bolted tires ?
I have just begain building new my buggy , and plan on running bolted tires. But I have noticed some people just hate them and think they should be outlawed and think parks shouldnt allow them ,because they tare up the hills.
I have been offroading for years and have seen all kinds of tire setups, mostly v tread firestones. But i just don"t see that bolted tires are any worse then v treads they both dig ruts after a while and many trips up a hill. Given that bolted tires are bigger, generaly they dig bigger ruts. So what do yall think ???

Thanks..

i think that you should be able to run what works and its been proven time and time agian that bolts work well i say go for it.

Bolted tire don't tear up near as much ground as nonbolts do and they're a lot safer too. Sounds nuts but I can prove it.

Curt

Thats what they like to run on the "competition" buggies, isn't it Curt?

I still laugh when I think about that debate.....

I'd run bolts if I had the power to turn 'em over....

I have a set of bolted 31" Firestones that I like to run. Like everything else, they have their place. However, it takes a lot of power to run them and a low gear or automatic would really help. I have a 2666 type 4 and I don't have enough low end torque to run them on a lot of steep windy hills when I can't keep the speed up enough to stay in my power band. As long as you don't spin them, no non-bolted tire can compare (IMHO). Once they start spinning, they will dig a hole very quickly and usually deeper than non-bolted tires. They also make your buggy feel much more stable because they won't slide as easily. The lateral traction and ability to stop going down hill helps tremendously when trail riding.
