http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/26531610/ This pisses me off. I've bought a bunch of their pliers and really like most of them. I for one won't be buying them anymore. Now if I manage to break one they're going to give me a china made replacement. If anyone wants to send them feedback here's their page http://www.irwin.com/irwin/consumer/jhtml/contactUs.jhtml I sent them a letter myself. John |

I wrote them! "First off there is NO OTHER locking pliers like Vise Grips! I have tried all of them and NONE work as well as your brand. I heard rumors of the company going to China to manufacture your products. I hope this is not true. Many people like myself, only use and buy American made. So I regretfully will no longer be buying any of your products like many Patriotic Americans. I'm sorry your company feels that cutting jobs for our fellow Americans and making their products in China will put more money in the greedy pockets of the company. Sincerely, Dave Sayson" I may be a peon in this big game of chess but maybe my input will help. |

It's cheaper because it's government run in China. They pay almost nothing for labor and materials. It's no longer a free market that's why this NAFTA stuff is such crap. The Chinese don't have to make a profit. The thing that kills me is ford and chevy have been crying it's to expensive to operate here but toyota and bmw have been moving plants to here for several years now. There's a toyota plant close to where I live. They also pay good wages. John |

Dave, thanks for taking the time to let them know how you feel. If we don't speak up, between NAFTA and the bean counters we won't have any manufacturing left in this country. If they get hundreds of thousands of Americans telling them to same thing they may listen up after their sales drop through the floor cause no one is buying the China version. Would you buy China made Vise Grips for $20 or harbor freight ones for $4? I know if I was going to buy the cheap junk it would be just that, cheap. John |

I went through my (and my fathers) decades of owning Vise-grip brand pliers and then renounced ever owning another pair as long as they are made in china. I finished with the customary "F@(k china and F@(k vise-grips for as long as they are made there. I figured that last sentence would let them know that they weren't dealing with an ivory tower egghead who has one pair of their pliers in his garage, but a poorly educated person who uses at least 3 pairs of vise grips to hold their car together because a $20 set of pliers is cheaper than a $200 door hinge. |

Ross Perot said it best when he said if nafta gets put in all you would hear is a sucking sound-- as all the jobs get sucked out of our country |
