Well thats the plan at the moment. Taking it to Haspin Acres Sat for the first time. Not sure I'll need second much anyways. But I still wouldn't mind having the option. |

If it is not really bad you might be able to ease it in and not pop the clutch in order to get it to stay. If it is really bad it doesn't matter what you do, it won't stay. I had one that you could hold it in but it kept getting progressively worse until it would throw it back out and you could not hold it. Either way, start looking for a tranny..... |

Take the shift rod loose from the coupler and manually put it in 2nd. If it pops out then, you have a synchronizer going away, shift fork has slipped or you have bent the shift fork. |

Nothing I do keeps it in. What or who is the fix? |

nitro_mudder wrote: Nothing I do keeps it in. What or who is the fix? PM Eric Debord about this, he can help, he will probably say the synchronizer is going out, but he is a very good tranny mechanic, he built mine and pipedope's and it is bullet-proof, almost |

Scroll down this link about a 1/4 of the way down to see the illustration of the gear. If you have rounded corners on the engagement teeth, Thats probably the reason for popping out. The gear will need to be replaced (rebuild time). http://www.longenterprises.com/Rebuilders_course_photo_gallery/index.htm |

if it had a pinion nut striped out that means ur case probaly is not good anymore,ur pinion bearing will probaly be spinning in the case, that means u will tear a ring gear and pinion out if u dont fix it it soon |

It is not a synchro... Synchros are to keep it from grinding going to gear and do not hold it in. It is either (1) gotten out of adjustment somehow (from a bent fork from shifting it too hard or it could have slipped the clamp from the fork to the shift rod), (2) The little engagement teeth on the gear itself/and or slider are worn to the point that they no longer have their "wedge" effect. The teeth are supposed to be wider on the end and they wear until straight, then it pops out. The fork could also be worn. It could also be a loose pinion nut, but it will usually make other noises if this is the case. Either way, I suggest you pull it out.. |

thats why you should have a crome moly pinion nut, if you have very much hp. |

Already been pulled looked over and fixed. Ran it fairly hard last weekend ran flawless. Still needs a super-diff and maybe lower RP. No new mods till I start working again, we will be lucky to aford a few trips this summer on my unemployment. But we will find a way. wife went for her first Haspin Trip and wants to go again. |
