I am not the safest guy in the world. Or the smartest. I finally got around to cutting the pockets that I bent all to heck off my torsion. Fist thing I did was remove the fuel tank. But what I din't do was get the oil that was laying with a couple rags off the floor of the buggy. While cutting the torsion I melted one of the oil containers. The oil went everywhere and the oily rags started burning pretty good. It did no damage I guess because while I am not smart enough to make sure I don't have an oil jug in my buggy I am incredibly lucky. No damage just a lesson.

its ok dean lol i did worse

i use to race standup jetskies and the fill neck was inside the gas compartment and i spilled a good bit of racefule in the inside of it wile on the phone and filling it in the shop

i forgot about the spill and went to hook the bat charger up and the spark lit the fule the flames went 12 feet high or soo and lit the insulation on the roof luckyly the ski was on a rol cart and we pushed it out in the yard and had to just watch it burn b.c there was no putting out 6 gallons of vp race fule with the garden hose........

it was an expesive mistake

Been there, done that.......I have done simple mistake like this before......I was at work one day and the hydraulic lift table was stuck in the pit and had to get it out to re-position it, but anyway, I took one of the hydraulic lines loose to get the pressure off of the cylinder so I can re-align the table in its tracks and had to cut some metal off of the frame to make it work, I thought the sparks from the molten metal will be put out from the very thick oil laying in the pit from the draining hose I took off earlier and the next thing I know, I was laying on top of the table with flames shooting out from underneath me between the rollers like I was laying on top of a big grill and I am talking about one hell of a pucker factor here.....within 3 minutes, the whole building had to be evacuated from my single misjudgment thinking that it was no big deal, but it was. The building was empty for about 2 hours for the smoke to clear in order to resume production and got my ass chewed out by my boss. Oh well, we ain't perfect, everybody makes simple mistakes.

I had a cougar I was turning into a derby car. I was cutting a hole in the floor, with a torch, for the battery cables. I looked for the fuel lines first, I didn't see them. On those cars the fuel lines are inside a track that looks like part of the floor pan, and the lines are plastic. I was cutting, hear a "vuh-whoooosh" I looked under the car and there was a 3 foot circle of fire that was spreading fast. Lucky for me my buddy is a fireman and his garage is well eguipt with extinguishers. I put the fire out. no damage. It was pretty funny.

when i was a kid me and my father were trying to clean a dirtbike exhaust baffle with gas. we were doing it over a sewer grate in the street. my dad came up with this great idea to light it on fire and "burn it clean" as soon as he fired it up the extra gas down in the sewer started to burn, flames were shooting out of the sewer 4-5 ft high. across the street was another sewer that was connected underground and parked over the sewer was our neighbors car. the flames started to shoot out of the sewer underneath the car. this was one of those rare moments when, as a kid i realized pops wasnt quite in control of the situation. fortunately the flames burned out before there was any damage and knowbody knew but him and i. truly one of those father and son bonding moments!

I know that these were some unfortunate incidents that could have ended tragically, but my sides are hurting from laughing......I mean, really, visions of a big badvw steak on the equivalent of a giant grill, or watching your dad stressing over whether or not the neighbor's car is going to flame up FROM THE SEWER FIRE!!!!!!! This is too much......... I can't stand anymore Marty, how do you deal with this stuff everyday? I'll bet you have heard some stories about why the house is on fire........

My nephew was stealing gas out of his dads buggy and had a cigarette in his mouth that dropped into the tank after he got the siphon going. Instead of getting the water hose and trying to put it out, he hopped on his motorcycle and left it to burn by itself. Luckily it was sitting outside but it still caused heat damage to a couple cars parked close by. Burnt the buggy crispy.

One cold December day, I wanted to hang new lights in my wood working shop. I went over to my metal shop to get some lights, and it was pretty cold out there. I was looking at the pet rabbit in the cage, and he looked pretty cold. So I fired up the torpedo heater to get him warm. I went and brought the lights into the wood working shop and starting hanging them. I needed another one, so I walked outside and saw smoke coming out of the garage door. I opened up the man door and everything was black. I ran around and opened up the garage door and everything was engulfed in flames. So I hurried up and grabbed the rabbit's cage and dragged him out. I tried to pull the buggie out, but it just burst into flames, so I called the fire deparment. As soon as the fire department came, they grabbed the rabbit and dragged him further away. His water bottle was even melted. I lost my shop and my buggie, but the rabbit lived on.

Dean, remember when i called you and told you i lit my distributor on fire?? yeah about starting fluid working as contact cleaner.....

I agree %100. He is a thief that will only steal from family because he is scared someone else will shoot him. He is 21 and never had a job for more than 3 days. He got jail time for receiving stolen property a while back. Guess what he got time for? A car radio, not a good one, one of the kind you buy at Wal-mart for $20. I told him, "If you can't successfully get away with receiving a stolen radio you need to quit and go straight right Fv(king now." We're all just waiting for the day when he pulls a serious sentence so we can start leaving things unlocked again.

In september 2001 I let a buddy use my shop to work on a buggy he just bought. We had to increase the head room. He took the gas tank off, but left it setting close to where he was working. At this time I was going to collage again. I had class, so i let him have a key to the shop. When I was coming home from class I heard fire trucks. When I got home my shop was burned to the ground. Along with my buggy, extra motor, extra transmission, 3 fourwheelers, tools, mowers. I do not let anyone use my shop any more. Home Insurance did not cover the 4 wheelers or the buggy, not mention his buggy. So when hurricane Ike hit my new shop this year it has been rough on me.
