hey,

i am having a hard time finding a replacement motor for my buggy, it got starved of oil and every berring is gone and i mean gone gone so it will cost to much to rebuild after parts and all the machine work it will need

i have been looking around me at all the junk yards and no one has anything

i need a 96 or newer subaru ej2.2 its obd2

i am going to the hill climb on the 27th so it would be awesome if someone on here who has more resources than i do could bring a good running motor with them and im willing to pay for the motor and for u brining it with you or if you know of any other option of a way to obtain a motor at a fair price please let me know

thanks
tanner

A pre 96 should work but it will not an egr valve. They guy I got my last from uses that 2.2 egr motor to relace the 2.5 single cam.

haha, just noticed your message....there's got to be a way to set up email notification for messages.......

if you feel like tearing the motor apart, you could replace just the shortblock with an OBD I one which would be much more common. But the cam sensor is different from OBD I to OBD II, so if you don't want to swap heads around, you'll need to get an OBD II one.

also, '97+ are interference motors, so if you wind up with one of those, keep that tbelt in good shape! also, some electrical changes in '99, so anything from then on won't be exactly plug and play, but could be made to work.

unfortunately, IMHO the best subaru motor made ever (tried and true phase I block, but with solid lifters, better flowing heads, better ECU, but still non-interference) was only made for one year, and you got it.....good news is Impreza and Legacy models are the same for those years, so it can come from either one.

Hope that helps!

yea...problem is this site won't let me use my normal email address....so it's sending notifications, but not anywhere where I'll find them.

oh well....I set it to give me a pop-up notification.
