| Post subject: | Tunes & Intercom in a helmet |
Dean's post on helmets came at the perfect time. I was in the process of deciding where to mount my radio, speakers and cb radio when i saw the post. After reading the comments, i have decided to install a radio system integrated into a helmet rather than installing a traditional radio. As another benefit, I am going to install an intercom system so that I can communicate with my kids in the back seat. (I have a street legal 4 seat sandrail) Here is my question... Has anyone used any intercoms or helmet radio systems? I am currently considering the chatterbox X2 or the PCI 4 link pro. Any input would be great.. Thanks, Dan |

What about a place to buy helmets. All I have is an old Moto Cross helmet. I would like to find a nice one. Maybe with a clean air system. |

I have purchased 4 motocross helmets (2 for my kids, one for me and one for my passenger) The helmets are working out great. My kids really like the helmets, it keeps the wind off of their face and the engine is much quieter for them with their helmets on. Since I drive my kids to school everyday in the Sandrail, the Intercom is critical. I tried the motorcycle Chatterbox option and the intercom worked great with two people but it did not work well with four people. After some more research, I have decided to purchase the RacerX Motorsports Intercom System. This will allow me to have all four helmets on one intercom system with Music and Cell Phone integration. Yeah.... I know... who wants a cell phone in their rail... I did not at first but since I also drive to work everyday in the sandrail, it is becoming difficult to not have a cell phone for my 40 minute commute. I should receive the intercom next week and I will let you know how it works out. |

Is the fresh air option worth the money? |

i can't understand how anyone could race (offroad anyway) without the fresh air. My old pump broke a few times during a race, and it was unbearable. It gets so dusty, and hot that without one your viser will fog right up, and you will be eating dust. Aside from racing, its still nice to have. I did have a problem last year during a 200k race, when i pitted for fuel, the gasket on the fuel cap fell out and about a mile out of the pit, my eyes and face started burning, and i couldn't breath! The race fuel was splashing out of the cell onto the air pumper filter, and it was blowing the fumes right into my sealed helmet\fire suit. Just those fumes will burn you up! Luckly I had a spare cap and gasket in the trailer. |

Wow... I feel cheap. I bought the motocross helmets that were on clearance. I think I paid $59 for each helmet. |
