I found out the hard way that on boggers the white threads ard only about a quarter inch below the lower surface of the rubber. I just cleanded the sawed off lugs down to the lower surface . I suppose you could use a tire groover then to get closer to the threads . |

jesse wrote: my tires look like the first pic how much can i cut into the tire to get more tread sticking up Jesse, The best thing to do if you're cutting rubber out from in between the lugs is to use a tire groover and cut just about to the chords (white threads). Try not to cut into them, but go as close to them as you possibly can. Then, use a tire hog to smooth the cuts out or to sharpen the faces of your lugs. This is what I usually do when I cut v-treads. -Dakotah |

If you accidentally cut into the white cords it will not ruin the tire. If you cut tires, you will have this happen here and there. Don't worry about it. |

I took those sandpapper style 4" disc for my grinder, punched some holes in them to let the rubber out. (careful not to get them out of balence) Smoothed out a set of 44" swampers in no time,it works great. REALLY SMOKEY!!! |

jesse wrote: i dont know if i want to take the chance of going to far i dont have the money for another pair if i do like roy said, It will not ruin your tire by cutting into your chords, as long as you dont cut all the way down to where there is only 1 or 2 plys left in that spot. You will know when you hit the chords when you're cutting a tire, You will hear a crunching sound and it will become harder to push the gun through the tire. -Dakotah |
