The buggie I have is a 1973 vw the motor is running rich and its starting to sputter and back fire, and the volts are running around 10. What could be wrong with it? I have put new plugs and wires in it then this started to happen. |

If you're only getting around 10 volts at your battery, it sounds like your charging system isn't working. An Alternator/Generator usually charges a battery around 14 volts when your buggy is running. If your charging system isn't working, and you have a new/fully charged battery, your buggy will run for a little while off of the juice in the battery. Eventually the engine will drain the battery so far that it won't have enough juice to get the coil to make a spark at the plugs. Then your engine will start to sputter then eventually stall out. Check your charging system out. You could first try to fully recharge your battery, and see if your buggy runs better with the battery charged. |
