Does anyone have experience with a chassis dyno? Once I get my car up and going I would like to put it on a dyno to tune the computer and to see what kind of numbers I can get. My concern is that the hp may be a little more than the transmission could normally handle. Does a dyno load the transmission enough that it would be a problem pushing it hard. I know transmission problems can be caused by dropping the clutch, spinning the tires or wheel hop but on a dyno its a more controlled acceleration. The transmission (091) will be "built" with a superdiff and all weddle race parts by the time it hits the dyno.

I doubt very seriously that you will make enough power to worry about ever hurting a built 091.Once everything is rolling the trans isn't getting shocked and that is what takes them out.I'm not saying your not going to make good power but that trans when built can probably handle 5-600 wheel horsepower.

I have done some chassis dyno time and I can't see hurting a soild trans. All your going to be doing is a 4th gear pull from about 1500 rpm up to your red line. One thing is for sure, there could be no worse time to have something go wrong than on a dyno. You break a trany or a cv there is no quick stop, it takes several minutes for things to roll to a stop.
