I went to install new valve stems in my beadlocks. The first set I bought were the wrong size. Went out to the parts store and bought another set. Was in a hurry when I got home to see if they fit and the kids were talking to me. Popped the thing in backwards. Valve sticking to the outside. I felt pretty dumb after that one. Had to go out to the parts store again to buy another set.

About 15 years ago I was rebuilding a swingaxle transaxle for a buddy of mine. I was drinking beer the whole time I was doing it. By the time I was finished I had drank quite a few. We put the trans. back in his buggy to test it out. He put it in first gear and let out the clutch and he went backwards. Second gear the same thing. I had installed the diff. backwards. He had 4 reverse gears and one forward gear. We all laughed about it and his buggy has been nicknamed the Polish Tank ever since. I will never live that one down.

First Mistake:

At the last big woodsbuggy ride I came back from the party at Oak Tree totally wasted, and came past scooby doo. There were some people at the bottom of the hill and I asked them if anyone was climbing- when they told me no, I climbed it myself and then came back down to drink a beer with them. One of the chicks that was down there was all about me for some reason, and wanted me to take her up the the hill in my buggy. As drunk as I was, I didn't really care so I took her up to the top. We chilled up there drinking beer and eventually messing around. We got back in the buggy and went up some other trail and I ended up trying to back down it, backing against a tree because I was so drunk, and getting stuck. So I'm stuck with this girl on the top of scooby in the woods, and this other buggy comes up. I flag it down and the one dude takes the girl down in the buggy, and the other guy stays with me till the buggy comes back up to pull me out. The dude that stayed up with me asked me what was going on with the girl, and why she was buttoning her pants when they came up. I tried to play it off like she was taking a leak, and kept denying anything took place. The dude goes "Yeah I don't really care what happened, but thats my buddys wife, and if you go down there you're gonna get drug out of this buggy." At this point im really contemplating my situation, and starting to understand how screwed I am because of my ignorance of the fact that the girl was well, married. I ask the dude what I should do, and he tells me about another trail I can take to get back. The other buggy comes up and pulls me out, and as like a payback from God, the other buggy slings a huge rock that nails me right above my right eye, and I'm bleeding like hell. I end up taking the other trail and making it back to camp. No one is at my camp, but Roy and Bert and some of the other guys are camping next to me, so I go over and crack open a beer with them. It's at this point that I make my second mistake.

Part Two: Second Mistake

I sit down with Roy and the boys and start having more beers and telling them the story of that happened to me since I left the Oak tree party. I had a good time talking with them, laughing and drinking more. I ended up passing out in the chair, and waking up the next morning in my truck. I took a look in the mirror to see how bad my gash was from the rock, and discover that I had a Snivley Whiplash mustache drawn on me, stiches above my gash, and maybe one other thing drawn on. I managed to get this nonsense washed off, and I came outta the truck cussing my cousin thinking it must have been him. I was wrong. Seems like when I passed out in the chair Roy and the boys decided to have a little fun.

The lesson I learned from all of this is that you don't ever mess with the "strange" from wellsville.. and you don't ever pass out in the chair around the boys from Woodsbuggy.com

Many years ago I had F-250. Well tax time came and I bought a lift kit for it. At the time I had a small garage. Estatic about my first lifted truck, I proceded to put on the lift. After about 6 hours or so, I finally finished it. Man, it sat beautifully and it was just 1 inch under the leagle bumper limit of 31 inches. Sweet, I'm gonna go cruising and show off my truck. I start to back out and BANG, I hit the roof of the truck off of the top of the garage door. I get out and see a huge gouge and dent in the roof of my truck. I'm so pissed off that I can't think straight. So I pull the truck back in and remove the damn lift kit. Ok, I'll pull it out and put the lift back on outside. Finally finished with about 16 hours tied up in this project, I'm starved and gonna finally go cruzing and get something to eat. Who shows up but the wise ass old man. He askes "Didn't you start this this morning?" Dreading to tell my dad the story because you know the ol' man knows everything, I tell him. He gives me that look and says" Why didn't you just let the air out of the tires, then back it out?" Don't you just hate it when your dad thinks he knows everything, but is right. And I asked him "where the hell was you 6 hours ago!"

haha yeah a little smoke might have calmed you down to figure it out.. and you're right about the old man knowing everything, my dad always tends to walk up on my projects when I'm doing something stupid and call me out on it.

I was fabing a tool for a transmission I was working on for a bronco and forgot to tighten the vise on my chopsaw. I was in to much of a hurry. Needless to say it slung the piece out of the chopsaw. It of course flew right into one of my 8 ft florescent lights busting the bulbs. I know I've got more I've just got to think about it for a few.

I had a nearly new '99 Ford F-350 with the powerstroke diesel that I was installing a lift kit on. I was in the driveway, -DVS1-, and had it up on jack stands on all four corners. The rear was to be lifted with blocks and thats where I started. I had a floor jack under the passenger side of the rear end and removed the four bolts holding it to the leaf spring so I could lower it and put the block in. Stupid me, I thought I could do one side at a time so I left the other side attached to the leaf spring. As I lowered the floor jack to allow clearance to get the block in the entire truck twisted itself off the stands and crashed the rotors into the driveway, it missed my leg by about 4 inches. The springs were so stiff on the one ton that as it twisted the entire truck followed it. Needless to say the lift cost a little more than expected with brake parts and all. Close call!!

Ya I was shaking for a while! I don't know what was worse, the embarrasement or the sight of a new truck on the ground with no wheels.

I had been working on my buggy motor and installed a Pertonix in the dizzy and new coil. Had put on the new plug wires also. Everything was ready to go and start it up. Nothing would happen checked it all over and never paid attention to the dizzy cap. I got upset at it and hooked up the trailer and hauled the buggy to Larry's at the Speedshop. It takes me almost an hour to drive over there. I get there ask him to look at it and see whats wrong.
Well I had never buttoned down the cap and it was just sitting there. I don't know why I didn't notice it other than being in a hurry to start it up. Boy did I look like a dope.
Just gave me an excuse to pick up some other parts while I was there.
