Once you cut the end off of a 6-rib trans to install the bug engine can you ever install a bus engine back into it?? Thats why I'm asking for the 3-rib bell and input shaft in the parts section. I also have a high torque starter to fit the bug trans. Thanks Dave T |

i was told you could reinstall after cutting the shaft down. i have never tried it. DAREK |

I'm assuming you mean cut the end off of the input shaft on the tranny. Yes you can put a type 4 motor back on the tranny but you'll have to replace the input shaft. It's better to swap the input shaft if you have one from a 3 rib rather than cutting it, but you have to do what it takes to get it going. It's an easy swap if you can find one. A lot of people do the swap so if you decide to put a bus or type 4 motor back on the tranny, it shouldn't be too hard to find a longer input shaft if yours gets cut. |
