Post subject:  My transmission ordeal

Alright, so I bought this vanagon transmission from a guy in New York and he said it ran fine. I believe that this is true, but take a look at these pictures and tell me how strong this transmission is now, due to the corrosion.
I paid $375 to get it shipped here (not to mention it took over a month for him to pull it and ship it).
Did I get a deal?

Wow, you should definitely take that to the Trash Talk or Other Discussion section. That was THE most random comment ever.

Any other opinions on the transmission? Should I trust everything to hold together?

If everything is ok on the inside, then I wouldn't really worry about the corrosion. An overall pic might be better. I would take the bell housing off and look around. For the price, not too bad, imo.

Water does. Just like rust on steel...this is basically the aluminum equivalent. Sucks.
