80 amp alternator will be all the power you need unless you are going to use a winch on your buggy.

You need to know how many watts you will have on at one time to figure out what amp alternator you will need.

I have a 55amp alternator running 6 55watt lights 3led brake lights and a 4000lb winch. I don

I agree with hillaholic, it depends on your battery, you will need a good battery, junk batteries will not cut it, buy Optima. By the way, this is ohm's law, get a book on electrical engineering or look it up on the internet under ohm's law, and it will show you the memory wheel of equations, just use a calculator and you will find useful answers for your questions, not only just for buggies, but other things as well.
Here is some useful tips E=voltage, I=current (amps), R=resistance, and P=power (watts). It will also show you how voltage and current works when you wire lights up in parallel and/or series. You will see what I mean.
