Post subject:  Come on guys

A year ago most of us were riding in our own little groups. Most of us didn't even realize there were other woodsbuggied out there. The guys at Wellsville may not have know there was a large group of woodsbuggies in Alabama. I sure as hell didn't know that there was a group in Oklahoma. But now not only do I know about them but I have ridden with them. Look what has happened to us over the last year, Woodsbuggies have taken a great leap forward. We need to keep that going and not fight among ourselves about which motor is the ticket. We have a great opportunity to see our sport grow. One of my goals is to see a Woodsbuggy in a national mag. I would love it if Hot VW's took a look at us. They have offroad articles almost every month. And the buggies in those articles have all kinds of engines.
Lets focus on our hobby which is riding buggies in the woods. There may be some guy out there wanting to build a buggy and he wants to use the Pinto motor laying in his shop. Lets help him do it right instead of telling him he is wrong and running him off.
If you think your motor is the best or you think you have the best tires or suspension. Instead of sitting here telling everyone they are wrong wait till we all get in the woods and show them what you have. Believe me some guy with a suby can tell me his is best all day long and if anything I will just get pissed at him. But if he waits till he gets to the woods and out climbs me....then he will have my attention. I will go home and make some changes.
So lets all just realize we are a family live and let live and work towards our common goal which is to have fun in the woods. There is so much knowledge here lets let it grow.

Amen Dean!, I agree with you all the way! It's just all about what different people likes to run, it does'nt matter what they got, as long as they are having fun! I may not have the best of the best, my motor smokes like a freight train (soon will be fixed) and I had a lot of fun though! People, Dean is right about this let's get the West Coast some attention!

I agree. I have 3 brothers and we all run different power and it keeps things interesting as we learn from each other. I run a Dodge 2.2L , my next brother runs a Ford 2.3L, my next brother runs a Ford V6, and the youngest runs a VW engine. Watching my youngest brother encouraged me to shift the weight around in my buggy and get longer trailing arms to improve hill climbing and on the other hand he wants more power as I can wear him out in a all out race. We give each other a hard time just for fun but end up helping each other overcome problems without calling the others setup bad. Hell, I like seeing all the different setups. I'm in the process of swaping over to a turbo engine just to make sure I can stay ahead of the others. We are all making changes and trying to out climb or out run each other. :)

You can see it in the videos from the Cold Spot 1-1-08 ride. If it's summer, that smoke will come in handy to help keep the bugs away! LOL

Iam with Dean on this, sounds great ,we need to keep moving this sport forward and get the attention the sand rails get out west(positive attention). We have a chance every time we have a get together to better this sport and give people something good to talk about,I cant wait to get to the woodsbuggy ride at wellsville,we should all try and come if possible and support this great sport we have,I would love to see the hill climbs turn into a hill climbing series with events held in 3-4 states, theres really never been any thing out there for woodsbuggys, lets stick together and change that,Like Dean said it would be awsome for hot vws come to wellsville and write about all the buggys converging on this one place to ride,or to a place to compete for $2000 dollars in a hill climb, lets keep it going in the right direction :D :D :D :D

Dean,

Your right, and I want to personally thank you for this site and what you have done bringing all of these buggys together. I thought the sport was gonna die out but this site has helped it alot. I have met alot of good people from this site and hope to meet many more. Thanks again and lets all ride together no matter what kind of engine.

I agree with everyone . & would definitly like to see some national attention through maybe hot vws or someone else. I quit buying hotvws years ago because they didn't have any offroading except desert riding & sand dunes. ALL BUGGIES ARE COOL ! ( even the dune runners  )
But I PREFER WOODS BUGGIES.

ky-bc, How about something to do with the Somerset mid summer's night cruise? Maybe a booth.Check with the cops, see if the buggies can cruise......escorted maybe? That cruise is getting pretty big and has been covered by TV shows before. What do you think, I know it is not an offroad event. I don't know.

that's a good idea but probably better for licenced street rails, the cops already have their hands full on cruise days (4th sat. april to oc

Yea, I agree. I didn't know if I should even ask or not with it not being an offroad event. Just bouncing around ideas. Tom

I dont realy care what yall do it is my buggy just the way i built it! air water chains, not, dont matter. I like it cuz its mine. If I see somthing on your ride I like I will probably improve on it an put it in mine. Thanks, you will do the same im sure. What we realy need to do is be together on keeping our offroad riding areas open. We as a group need to be motivated to act politicly to do that! Damn tree hugger cant stand to see us rednecks having fun is say string em high

If you draw attention it might have negitive results I would be leary of media coverage because of tree hugging liberals. If they see rednecks having fun in the woods they might get nervous  Lets just keep quite so they wont shut us down :x
